So, I want to hear from someone who's bolted the supra trans to a 2.2 or 2.5. I'd be interested in info about both the manual or auto supra trans. What exactly did you all need and what modifications did you need to perform to the motor/trans to get them to operate together properly?

I'm doing an R154 swap behind a slant six, but I don't have a clue how you would do one behind a 2.2/2.5.

The bellhousing face of the Supra trans is pretty common, the R154 will swap with an NV4500 or Jeep AX15, and several others. The W58 is smaller and doesn't swap as much.

FYI, The R154 is the 86.5-92 Supra Turbo 5 speed, the W58 is the NA Supra 5speed. If you can make it work, the W58 is plenty strong enough for your use, but the input shaft is too short most of the time. That's why I am going With the R154.

Give this info a good read, maybe there is something there.

Haven't been here much recently, looks like the supra 5 speeds have been discussed several times already, and Greg is on the forum as well.

Sorry about the redundant info.

"Ministocker" over on the Allpar board has been involved with a friend to do this in a Triumph. He's sent me some pics. Apparently the only fabbing you have to do is the pilot bearing. Everything else is bolt up and go!

how do you read the ignition timing with that bellhousing? Is there a special crank pulley and timing mark piece up front to read it in the dakotas?
