Current progress,
I've got 700 miles on it, most of the bugs worked out. The interior is in. Slicks arrived yesterday 26X10.5X16 Mickey Thompson E.T. streets.
I put in some 110 octane gas and cranked the boost up to around 23psi, feels pretty good . I may have to make a trip to the track Sunday

SOmeone is gonna have fun making donuts!!

Good job!

By the way Larry, how does Fwd work with you on having changes done to the cal, both money wise and turnaround time?

Cindy told me to send in the computer and she would make changes for the new engine setup and send it back no charge. Thankfully she did agree to send me just the chip which saved me the down time. As for turnaround time I haven't got it yet, but I told her no rush since I'm still able to drive it.

Ohio Rob,
Although the sidewall says 26X10.5X16 the tread is only 8.5" wide. Also with 25psi in them they are closer to 27" tall, a little tighter fit than I wanted but they don't rub. Wheels are 16X8 rear and 15X7 front

Here's a few more pictures, one with the slicks, one with the regular street tires 225X50X16 rear 195X60X15 front, and a couple of the interior.

Wow, with the radials on it you can't even tell it's RWD. Very well done. The interior is really nice also. Can't even hardly tell it's RWD there either. you going to drive it to sdac again this year?

Don't worry about steering in front. Just use the rear wheels to steer.
D0riftO yo!

Nice work, looks like a buttload of fun!

Damn dude. That is one sweet setup you built there. I got an 88 Shadow ES with a 2.2L Hybrid engine. I think a RWD conversion would make the car even more fun than it already is.

Do you have any better shots of the rear frame as you were building it or how its tied into the body of the car?

bfarroo,
I plan on driving it to SDAC this year.

Shadow92_22,
My digital camera was loaned out when started this project, and I started with the rear frame so no pictures until after it was welded in and covered with sheet metal. I'll post a couple that show a little more of the rear frame. Hopefully the car will be in your neck of the woods in June for the SDAC meet so you can get a better look.

I've still got a few problems to work out by June.
My "new" holset turbo I bought off ebay was seriously rusted up on the inside, hurricane Katrina victim? After taking it apart and cleaning it up it seams to spin ok now but the shaft is pitted and it's got a slight oil leak on the exhaust side.
The transmission is hard to shift above 4000 rpm and will not shift above 5000 rpm. I swapped transmissions this evening haven't driven it yet to see if that problem is fixed.
The last problem and the one that really bugs me is, the engine developed a cold start rattle at about 750 miles. It goes away after the engine is fully warmed up. My only guess is piston slap. It doesn't seem to be getting any worse and the engine has 1500 miles on it now.

I have seen his work at sdac 15 and Larry is a true craftsman. I don't think anyone who has seen his work would disagree.

I can't wait to see the car the June.

It's main use will be as a daily driver, long as there is no snow on the streets and for street car night at the local tracks.

I did get the shifting problem fixed. Turned out to be the pressure plate, the cast iron part was loose. After removing the pressure plate and setting it next to a couple of my old ones, I finally noticed the cast iron ring was not centered in the stamped housing. It was pretty easy to pry it with a screw driver and move it around. I guess I should have known not to reuse it after 3+ years of abuse. But on the plus side now I've got a spare transmission
