I have a nice 88 Conquest Automatic but the motor and fuel injection on these cars is junk. I have the guts out of an SRT-4 engine and head. Is there a 2.4 RWD engine that I could hook an automatic up to that would take the SRT-4 guts. If I could use the factory trans that would be great. I plan on switching the PCM to the SRT-4. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I also thought about a 3.5 out of a 300M or 3.0 out of a Montero. Originally I had a 340 setup planned but I want a daily driver with good mileage.

Im pretty sure that you are not going to find anything out there short of a custom made adapter plate to allow you to run the stock trans and that will cost you a pretty penny. If you look at the top of the RWD section in the stickies threads there are many discussions about using a first generation turbo supra 5 speed and the which bellhousing that you will need to use. If you are wanting to stick with an auto i dont know what options are out there for you with the exception of a 2.2/2.5 adapter (will also work with a 2.0/2.4) for the 904 small block trans. This will also bolt up a 727 and the a518 overdrive auto from a small block. Either way you are gunna have a lot of work ahead of you. If you decide to go through with it keep everyone posted.

Is there a 2.4 RWD engine I can put the turbo parts in? Is the Jeep engine pretty much the same except RWD?

The Jeep wranglers are using the 2.4L as the base engine right now. They are rear wheel drive. That SHOULD work.

A year or two ago, I saw a Conquest on ebay that was heavily modified with a DOHC turbocharged 6G72 stuffed under the hood. The Mitsubishi Montero would have a suitable RWD transmission that'd bolt right up to the 6G72. The car had a LOT of extras to go with it, and sold for something like $8400 which was a steal of a deal. It wasn't running yet, but it would have been one bad ass mo fo.

I think someone has adapter plates to bolt the conquest trans to the 6g72.

The 4G63 will NOT bolt up to a starion or conquest transmission without some sort of an adapter, the bolt pattern to attach the transmission up to the Turbocharged RWD 2.6 mitsu engine found in the starion/conquest is totally different from the 4G63 bolt pattern for the trans,I have a couple of these vehicles 1 is highly modded thats my wifes conquest and the others have V8 5 speed turbocharged swaps already performed ,i have had alot of expierence with these vehicles and i have attempted almost every engine swap thought of over the past 11 years both 4 cyl and V8 ,alot of trial and error and hundreds of hours spent adapting one thing or another so please believe me when i say the trans will not work,i have wasted enough tiome attempting these swaps to knopw whnat i am talking about
Now if you want a RWD tans for a 4G63 an adapter is soild to adapt a GM chevy pattern Power Glide or 700R4 or any other GM/Chevy bolt pattern trans up top the 4G63 otherwise for a direct bolt up you need a late 80's earily 90's model auto or manual trans out of a mitsu pick up with the SOHC 2.0L EFI engine.the clutch release system will need to be adapted to a cable type or brackets will need to be made to utilize the slave cyl from the conquest, the block on the 2.0 is the exact same as the 4G63 bolt pattern, actually you can interchange the DOHC 4G63 head on to the pick up SOHC engine block

I think the srt engine will bolt to a 2wd 4 cylinder dakota transmission if you can find one.

and it would probably be easier to run megasquirt or SDS system rather then the srt4 computer and such

I'm new here and wanted to say something about the mitsu tranny swap. I've been into mitsubishi swaps, I'm just getting into the mini mopar scene now. In the mitsu mini trucks actually have all different engines in them. There are the 4g63's,4g64 which there are a wide block and standard block and then there is the 2.6 pos's.The wideblock 4g64 tranny will bolt upto the 2.6 i have already done it in a 89 ram50 twice . Also in the conquest/ starions there are 2 different 2.6's the wide block and standard. From what i have read in a forum in this case that the wideblock 2.6t will bolt upto small block 318 tranny don't quote me on it, thats what i was reading on when i was looking for swaps for a friends 89.5 conquest. But, like I said i just wanted to share that not saying I know everything but I am a die hard mitsubishi freak.
