well if a 2.4 srt4 block bolts up to a TD trans (520, 555, etc with minor fabbing for 2 bolts), and the dakota came with 2.2 and a manual trans, therefore the 2.4 srt4 will bolt up to a dakota manual trans (hopefully). case closed!

Oh boy lot of things said i see and very false, ok for starters the fuel injection setup on the starquest, was it poor yes, but hopeless NOT by any stretch. Plnety of people made serious power off the stock/modded TBI setup. Now the bottom end of our motors are one of the strongest of all 4 cylinders, the head being a problem area BUT aftermarket heads or a 2.6 caravan head(not jet valved) is a good change. Keep them cool they are good. Problem people confuse with our heads is they got the car with the previous owner overheated the engine due to poor thermostat(we know the cheap owners of the starquest) clogged rads, famous electrical fans not comming on etc. Car is 20 plus years old its gonna need help with these items to keep an engine running factory cool. I have had many SQ's and currently doing another MPI one. My most recent (89 starion) I had done a aftermarket head (no port/polish) felpro perf 9116pt head gasket with ARP head studs, customized the TBI and used some high flower injectors, braided lines, walbro pump, evo3 ported big 16g with custom header and ran at 20 psi for a year and half daily!!! and for the first part of the work did daily 160 mile a day work weeks with me and beat it just about everyday some sort of the way to work lol. Very fast car solid 13's with full weight SQ too. Easily could have been 12's or better but these cars weigh a lot for the most part. Coulda squeezed some more power out by also porting polishing, doing more work to the distributor woulda helped to gain a little more timing retarding and tossin the vaccum advance but hey got a good offer from someone to buy the car for a nice amount so hey screw it. Oh and the custom evo3 turbo swap is a pain and the wastegate didnt open and close the best so it was a nother night and day difference when i had that functioning well on and off, tough to get it solid cus i did the project around KDM intercooler piping i already had instead if doing piping around the turbo swap setup.
NOW second thing. You CAN!!! use the dsm engine in the SQ, however u would want the 4g64 block (wodeblock from mitsu truck 89 and such). Using 2 stock SQ engine mounts from the same side i think 2 driver side mounts it bolts right up and takes the SQ tranny setup stock!!! Now u toss a dsm 4g63 dohc head on that 4g64 block and u got soemthing nice as it is sohc stock but that dohc head bolts right up!! Food for though brotha as going v8 is a mere unnecesity (i have done it for fun) car sat for 3 years cus i left it to rot, went on to a mpi swap built 2.6 starquest and found a much more broad impressive car than the v8 project ever would have been!!! If u really have any questions feel free to contact me i have more then enough of ur answers to getting that car some serious power using the 2.6 if u got a little dough to throw off (more so the same amount or less u would spend getting another 4g64 engine and
4g63 head and doing that swap up lol Or by going v8).

Well its kind of self explanatory, a standalone (preferably megasquirt) get that complete setup and its not too much money either. You will need injectors, a intake manifold/injectors there is a magna mpi setup people have been using for years but i have used custom intakes not the magna as i personally feel if ur going to do a mpi starquest why bother with the magna setup. You have several options for ignition, msd brand etc and various types like a distributorless system or use ur stock distrib and modify it with a caravan internal module (very easy) and locking the distributor which u then get rid of the (junky) vaccum advance. You can also ditch the stock igniter box by using a msd box with a tach adapter but some say its good to use the stock igniter however thats BS cus most cars that are turbo dont use igniter boxes and already are mpi (hence the TD's) (o: You then tune it all through laptop. If u choose to not go distributorless (much easier to use the stock distrib). You can still do the mentioned setup by ditching the vac advance and all. If you want an all out kit ready to go and all u gotta do is tune it and u got some dough here.... --------------WELCOME to FuelinjectionPro.com ----------
Scroll through that site and u will see their mpi stuff. Any help just ask man.

Oh and of course modding ur intercooler for larger pipes to go to ur new mpi setup via different spots than stock is expected too. Best bet is to cut ur stock pipes off the intercooler flush with the tank then open the holes to 2.5 inches and tig weld stright barbed pipes about 4 inches or so to the new larger hole cut tanks. Then under ur own measurements have piping bent to make it to ur new throttle body and turbo inlet using couplers/clamps to hold them in place of course. Or again here is a site u can get a mpi modded pipe kit (just gotta mod ur inercooler how i said above) Starion and Conquest resources brought to you by KDMPerformance.com

well like i said look at the link above there is the fuelinjectionpro setup manifold and all. otherwise there is the magna intake u can use or a EIP manifold which is pretty costly and kind of a pain to use. Only other option is custom intake made.

Thats the link i already gave him lol. And that is not for the magna, that is a custom intake made by Fuelinjectionpro. The magna intake is from the australian car called the magna. It can be used on our 2.6 though as its from a 2.6 used in the magna also but is mpi obviously. You can check out me and my friends forum board i think someone there is selling a magna setup G54B.com - The True Starion/Conquest Enthusiast Site OR u can check out home redirect There is always someone there selling a complete mpi setup of some sort.

Ok i said in each paragraph in order to what the specific portion of part i was peaking of and kdm was for the intercooler piping(and other stuff he sells too) and he is making hus own mpi manifold soon too actually. Anyway I said go to g54b site (me and a friends site) to check around for someone selling a magna setup OR try the starquestclub link for someone selling an mpi magna setup or u may find another mpi setup for sale but the point is on starquestclub site u will find a lot of mpi stuff for sale from members.

matter of fact here is an ebay auction for the magna mpi setup, thats the main parts then all u need is a standalone ecu setup (complete so u have the sensors and all needed, megasquirt is a cheap source for everything, laptop for tuning and injectors, etc. you should know the rest. eBay Motors: STARION CONQUEST MPI ECI MULTI INTAKE MAGNA g54b (item 320293741425 end time Sep-07-08 21:32:16 PDT)
