I know i come up with some crazy or just plain dumb ideas on here but hear me out people. I saw the post on the lambo swapped daytona and read the article and it got me thinking. Since the lambo engine was a v8 could i swap in a small v8 and still keep fwd? or awd?

If there is a will there is a way to make the engine work. Extreme engine swaps are great, but usually take a lot of time, money, the engineering skill to figure it out, the inventiveness to fine parts that could "work", and the creativity to put it all together.

I once saw a 1972 VW bug with a 350 small block.

If you go for it, keep us in the loop.

The 1989 Dodge Daytona Decepzione with the Jalpha V8 and AWD or 4wd. That would be one sick little ride with a v8 in there!

a FWD V-8 will tend to be wider than our I4 package,
and WAY heavier

look for an aluminum block V8, e.g. cadillac HT4100/4500 or 4.9;

or for a 4V, a northstar 4.6 or aurora 4.0 ..

lol whichever (GM FWD) trans that goes with the motor

e.g. the 4.1/4.5/4.9 have the same bellhousing pattern as the 2.8/3.1/3.4 family = super common

Check Fiero.nl...they do northstar swaps all the time using the factory tranny with an adapter plate....last I was on there the G6 6 speed tranny had just come out and there was a lot of buzz about using that...

I was really considering a 5.0 ford due to budgets.

If you have a budget, forget V8 swap.

"Not your average V8 swap" will require, not your average skill, budget, time, and experience as well.

I had once asked Advance Adapters for a Dodge LA series smallblock adapter to a Dodge A670 (3.0 V6). Cost was prohibitive, since I'd have to pay for engineering and design. Not worth the effort. As for measurements, I've lost my original measurements, but the V8 would fit a minivan front to rear, but the accessory drive would interfere with the passenger side frame rail To open that up would require a good deal of fab and reinforcement. Then the worry of the A670 managing the HP and torque of the V8.

I realize this thread is old, but I've had some issues with health and not been here lately...

Yeah, the Fiero guys have swapped in everything from EV stuff to LS7s and big block 572s. One guy over on Fiero.nl is even swapping in a BMW V12. Another guy was investigating the possibility of an SRT-4 swap. On a side note, guess I'm not the only one on this forum with an affinity for the misaligned two seater GM sports car...

6.1 swap I think it where it's at...there was one on ebay not long ago. Honestly, why keep it fwd, if you have a V8, right?
