Question, is the trans bolt pattern on a 2.6 the same as a 2.5

as i came up with a idea of dropping a 2.5 turbo, or a 2.4 SRT4 into a conquest as i really love the design of the fattys

Bell housing is totally different. You could use the Dakota setup or better would be the late dakota bell and a Supra trans or some of the Chevys( M5 or something). I think they are in Soltices and Skys. I used to like the Conquest also. Not so much now but they can be made to look very cool.

Its easier to put a 4G63 in a conquest/starion, or get a magna head for the G54b then to adapt a 2.2/2.5 and trans. I agree it would be cool, but anything you can get from a 2.2 you can get better with the mitsu.

well that sucks, wonder how hard it would be to adapt a gm trans

might as well just drop the 4g63 in it as mentioned

hoping a 2.5 would drop in

Conquests came with an auto also, but its unique, wont mate to a 2.2/2.5 only 4G63/G54b.
The 2.6l was used by chrysler at some point but only longitudinally, also in the mighty max.
The 54b is a monster with the right head and fuel injection; largest production 4-cyl, forged and nitrided crank, piston oil squirters, etc. Even the hemi chamber isn't a bad idea necessarily for a turbo application but that 8-valve head, masochistic intake, and 1-2 injector set-up ruined it.

Either build a 54b with the bette rhead and mult-port efi, or build a G63, they can be stroked to 2.5l I think.

Can anyone say Cosworth Conquest....

i knew they can become monsters as mine was packing some pretty good horsepower, but i guess i will look into maybe putting a 4g63 in there as i might pick this 89 conquest up for $300

or just bore the stock 2.6 to a 2.7 or 2.8 and build upon that

I vote 4G63, had they not killed the conquest in 89' I believe it would have gotten it anyway instead of the laser. Stroke it to 2.5 and assemble as a dsm. Bad ass because they're even less well known than the shelby dodges.

yeah, either put the 2.4 crank in that 4gt63 or build a 4g64 to Evo power levels.

a dodge engine in a mitsu sounds cool though. planning to do that on my 87 Ram 50. i still have a 2.5 cb out of my 91 dynasty to replace the tired 2.0. maybe i can have the stock 5spd modified to accept a 94/95 dakota bellhousing?.

i picked up a full cluster (w/ tach and gauges) and a 1st gen montero locker 3rd member w/ 3.55 gears. stock stump puller rear gears plus a very mild overdrive 5th makes it very noisy on the highway. other plans are the 15" rims off an 87 4x4 model that look like the original 14's, bigger brakes, sway bar, and i'd like to scab in the rear clip from a 1st gen lwb montero w/ trailing arms and sway bar....hate the look of leaf springs.
