Picked her up yesterday.
94 Voyager. 3.0 (65k), 670 trans, spotless inside, needs paint (almost rust free).
Plan on doing it to match our other mini, so we'll have TWINS.
Curious how you did the accents? just tape them off? The only rims i painted the accents where from a 35th aniversary corvette and i polished the face so i didnt have to worrie about overspray or anything. Have alwase wanted to redo the original rims for my duster but boubt i will, im running the original 17s from my GTI on it now.
Cost is a big factor. They're actually not stock mini wheels, they're Spirit wheels. I had them sitting around on a parts car I had picked up a while back and they had really good tires. Nothing beats free :thumb:.
I will keep my eyes open for a decent set of 16" wheels, but for now, I'm working with what I have, as I'm trying to keep a tight budget.
Nothing wroung with using what you got, free is the way to go! Thats how i ended up with the 17s on my duster, the tires where junk and i needed to drive it for a week so on went a set of vw rims, and they havent came off since haha
I'll be keeping my eyes open, likely find something at Spring Jefferson this year, I've gotten the wheels for our 95 and my car there, paid under $150 for both.
Right now I'm more focused on getting it fixed so it's back on the road, then paint, then rack/basket, then front bar, looking seriously for wheels will come after unless I come across a good deal. :thumb:
So I'm finding some things I'm not liking as I tear this down. I feel the engine got extremely hot at some point, as I literally had to beat the intake manifold loose with a 5lb hammer (wouldn't have grabbed a hammer, but it wasn't going back on anyway). I've never had a manifold stuck like that. See what else I find as I get deeper into it.
I checked the block after I cleaned up the antifreeze and all looks well, so it's in progress of going back together, which hit a speed bump by ways of cracked rear manifold. I threw everything on the top for a visual of what it'll look like done:
Once I get the new rear manifold, I'll be back on to reassembling.
Working on the suspension up front while waiting on my new manifold. I bought Spirit struts, which I installed cut van springs on. Hopefully should get the nose where I want it. As for the rear, I think I may make custom plates for the stubs to lower it to match the nose.
The front end sits exactly where I wanted it, about 1.5" lower than stock. Got the motor all back together and running like a champ again. Now I'll be working on the rear, finishing the paint prep, and getting the side windows swapped out.
gota love dodge vans, those wheels came out good! Not my thing but mad props where there due. I used to air brush back in highschool, havent done it in years though.
I think once she's painted next weekend and my new aggressive tires (General Grabber AT2s) are on them, it'll all pull together and look good.
Paint will be happening next weekend. Sounds like we're building the rally bar this weekend. Getting an alignment tomorrow. Getting exhaust done tuesday. Things are coming together nicely.
I got a set of those lights on a parts snowmobile, for how cheep they are i was suprised how good they worked, usually those cheep lights are like pointing a flashlight at the sun, i had even better results by using only one but fitting it with a 100w bulb. same watts but a much farther beam, which is what i wanted.
Decided the mini needed a snorkel to complete the off road look. So I have to make my own. Found a write up on offroad.com to make your own, so I'm going for it.
Frame work laid out.
Intake running back the correct way to meet it.
Crappy pic, but this is the upper piece with the 1st coat of glass on it.
It's got a hitch, although I'd never use it for towing. Figured on getting a rear rack to carry random other stuff on. For now though she's done. Gotta get the wife's van back on the road, then I'll be starting into my Mivec swap.
