dunno if this would help you guys but jeep 4.0's use a 90* adapter on the block, of course this is the same filter also so this might help with space issues, dunno been a while since i worked on a 3.0

Well instead of asking questions....I can finally offer a little assistance... LOL
I've been using Car Quest Gold filters (they're made by Wix)
The PH16, PH43, and PH8A are all {FRAM** stock Mopar replacements. The PH43 is about 1/4" longer than the PH16. The PH8A will definintly interchange with either the PH43 or the PH16, as long as there's ample room.
The Big Block Mopars used either the PH43 or the PH8A in stock form...depending on the year. I think the 8A was used up until 72...not that it matters.
Regardless, I've got one of each of those filers in my garage...but probably won't get down there until Friday or Saturday to see how close the PH8A is for clearance on my 3.0. I will report back!
Also, the 90º oil filter adaptor from a late 70's-early 80's 318/360 Diplomat, St Regis, Lebaron, New Yorker, etc.... May work on the 3.0 as well. I might even have one of THOSE in the garage to check out...

Ok, i did some research here, this is the engine and filter, in fram designations
505-ph16
440-ph8a
426-ph8a
413-ph8a
383-ph8a
360-ph43
348-ph16
340-ph8a
318-ph8a
4.0-ph16
225-ph43
3.9-ph43
Those were what i found, sfter doing all that i discovered that they all pretty much used 1 of 3 filters a ph16, a ph8a, or a ph43, so now the next step is to go to the parts store and see which is bigger.

Depending on the starter you have you can fit alot bigger oil filter.
I got an almost new aftermarket starter at the junkyard from a 3.0 caravan for like 10 bucks and it was 1.5" shorter and like 3 lb less then an old stock starter in a 3.0 dynasty.
My biggest problem is I hardly have any room to fit my 5/8" oil return line between the stock starter and the stock oil filter. My forged turbo motor is getting the smaller aftermarket starter so I should have room for a big filter.
