Those were what i found, sfter doing all that i discovered that they all pretty much used 1 of 3 filters a ph16, a ph8a, or a ph43, so now the next step is to go to the parts store and see which is bigger.
Some of those applications aren't the "common" usage..but should still work. Most older 318's use the PH43, and the later 5.2's use the PH16. That being said, I routinely use the PH43 size on my 92 5.2 dak. NO WAY a PH8A would have cleared the frame rail.

The PH16 is the shortest, followed by the PH43 (about a 1/4" longer than the PH16), and the PH8A is the longest. They are all the same diameter.

Anyone heard anything about the Max Life Filters? and i use 5-30 max in my engine and 5-30 mobile one synthetic in my trans... I will probably switch to Honda MTF, its rated top notch for manual trannies.

Vipers use the same filter you already have. They have a long one from the factory but you cannot buy one from mopar, they supercede it to what you already have. You guys need to read my earlier post. ALL Chrysler built engines use the same thread and mounting base for the oil filter so they are interchangeable.

CLiff ramsdell suggests running non syn plain old 5-30 in the tranny. Synthetic will help you eat up the synchros (too slippery) according to our gold tech chrysler tranny man.

I had mobil 1 in my tranny and I decided to dump it out after reading some of cliffs posts in the archives.

Here's pic of the 3 filters side by side:
(may take a few to load....sorry.)

From my eyeball estimation....a PH8A length filter will fit into my Daytona.

DO NOT use any amsoil products. I have seen 3 engines completely grenade because of their junk. One was a parts manager who has been in the business for 30 years and some amsoil jackass sold him on it. He used nothing but amsoil products throughout the car since it was brand new and the engine literally blew apart. It even needed exhaust and intake manifold because they were craked. This was around 65k miles. Amsoil would do nothing to help him out.
