Ok, i am going to use the fram designations, this does not mean that i use fram, i only use wix. I have heard of people using the ph8a vs the stock ph16, is this better for the engine/will it keepoil in the pan?

I have often wondered the same thing. The PH8 is a .5 quart filter where the PH16 is the .25 quart one.. right?
I don't use fram either.. I have found that the supertech2000 filters from walmart rated #1 with WIX almost tied with it. Fram placed 2nd to last in filtration and flow.

I used to use Fram PH8A's on my Slant Sixes and Mopar V-8's, but after reading and printing out a report on oil filters a couple years ago (I still have it), I switched to Purolator Premium Plus filters in all my engines and picked up 2-3 psi oil pressure. They seem to filter pretty good too.

Haven't bought a Fram in about 3-4 years now.

ok i just cecked it out, the 5.0 vin d uses the same filter as we do factory, the 5.0 vin t used the 8a. the vin t is the "ho" version. The spec for overall capacity is 5 qts for both so maybee is doesn't hold any more than the 16 does.

the 3.0 has the same threads and base as a 2.2/2.5/ford 5.0 and every engine that dodge has ever made. They ALL have the same threads, just use different sizes of filters

That was the report.

When I took the balance shafts out of my old 1989 2.5 Turbo engine, with a Purolator 10241 filter (a small one, larger diameter ones would hit the alternator) it would hold 6 quarts of oil.
