I have a 1994 dodge spirit V6. I read in a different thread that you can put a turbo boogie from a dodge stealth r/t or a mitsubishi 3000 gt. I was wondering what a turbo boogie is exactly? And also I was wondering if they make after market cams for stealth r/t's or 3000 gt's that I could put in my spirit?

Thanks to anyone who responds to this thread.

honestly, i've never heard of a boogle... but from what i've read it seems you can't use much of anyhting from the stealth/3000gt on the chrysler 3.0L, such as manifolds. i've heard that the diamante 3.0L cams can be used in our engines and functions as an upgrade. or you can take the stockers and have them reground. ondonti did this with his cams....

WTF? Boogie?

Just do yourself a favour and entirely forget about a Stealth or a 3000 GT. Nothing will work on your car besides whats in it to begin with and no one makes cams for it.

RPW makes billet cams for the SOHC 12v motors. They're expensive as hell. But they at least exist.

Crower can regrind the stocker to your specs. Or recommend a grind for you and your application.

Plus, if you get lucky, you may find a local machine shop that will do the same kind of service.

I had mitsu FWD cams ground, not my stockers. I wanted the hottest cam possible.

The 3000gt swap projects are only something that a semipro fabricator should attempt. THen you have to get the correct electronics to get the motor to run. VERY EXPENSIVE.

I made more WHP then a 24v vr4 with only 5 psi. Of course a FWD conversion TT makes more like 270whp bone stock. Anyways, the sohc heads arent that bad. If you build a custom intake manifold using mitsubishi parts you can get a huge gain even with stock exhaust. 183whp 3.0 with stock exhaust and everything else by simply boltiing on a custom intake manifold isnt bad. Thats higher then a 24v DOHC FWD dynos stock (usually around 175whp for a stock dohc 24v).

Regardless of the huge flow differences between the heads, most mitsu guys seem to accept the DOHC engine his HIGHLY overrated on its stock power output, and the sohc engine is highly underated. Sohc mitsu's put down 150+ whp. Thats only 20 less whp then a dohc, and sohc cars are lighter. cut off the stock plenun from the mitsu manifold, and put a big volume plenum on with a big TB and you get 30+ whp with stock exhaust. Modded exhaust mitsu's are making 195whp+ with no other mods and no fuel/spark mods or tuning. Think if they had a big overbore to 3.15L, some head porting, a cam grind, aluminum flywheel and pulleys, more agressive timing, etc. THen put it in a little Omni.

I had the resinator taken off of my spirit, and i put an import muffler on the end of the exhaust. In other words its pretty much open exhaust. I'll just say what I've all done to my car so far. I have opened up my exhaust, put in a MSD 6A ignition box, put in a 180 degree thermostat, made my own custom CAI, and im soon to be putting in 8mm ignition wires and a MSD ingition coil. What type of horsepower do you think I would be making now?? Ondonti, where would i get the parts to make that custom intake manifold???

Thanks a lot for your time!!!!

The one for the montero will fit without changing the water coolant system.

The montero will require that you cut off the entire top of the manifold (which is designed like a mustang 5.0 plenum). There are pictures of my work so far on both yahoo, FWDMOPARMUSCLE and yahoo chrysler3literV6.

It would probably be easiest to just pay a machine shop to mill off the top of the plenum.
Then you cut the endtank off (the plenum). Decided if you want to shorten the runners a little bit. Then purchase a 3-5" diameter aluminum pipe to use as your new plenum. Im pondering on a 4.5" diameter pipe that is maybe 12-16" long. That would give me a plenum that is larger then the displacement of the whole motor. Then decide which TB you want to put on there, and stick it on the end. The plenum will be facing forward and covering up the oil refil cap so you will need to pay attention to that. You can then decide which end of the pipe you want the TB to be on. Mine will be on the passenger side because thats how I route my IC piping.

If you actually built a nice large plenum log intake, this what the australian boys are seeing 30+whp gains from. Im sure it wont gain that much compared to a ported chrysler intake manifold, but if you combine it with all your other mods it should be a nice Modification. I know it will be great for a turbo, because the stock chrysler manifold runs the rear cylinders lean when you turbo it.

If the rear cylinders are lean then is/would it be possible to run larger injectors in the rear to counter this?
