I've heard Mustang 5.0 K&N cone filters will work for our 3.0s, is this correct and what year?

just about any cone filter will work..........you just need to figure out how you want to attach it.

I've got a '92 so I am not worried about the PCV, unless you mean the one on the rear valve cover, which I am still not terribly worried about.

I had the impression that some cone filters you could not put a clamp around the neck to hold it to the throttle-body because it was hard plastic?

Thats the one. I ran that straight on my TB, on a CAI and also on my blower setup(of course not all at the same time).

cone filter hand puppets?

Scotty, i use the RU-3030 cone right on the 52tb with no issues, but like others recommencd, it would probably be better to relocate the filter somewhere else, most people put it under the battery. although i think you'd see better gains if it was more near fresh air coming in the engine bay like near the radiatior, go at your own risk though since getting water in the cylinder is a bad idea so don't put it down at the bottom of the engine where water can splash up or you'll be doing this
