And the 3.3 and 3.8 are smaller than the 3.0.

At least one guy has build a 3.0 Omni. I wanted to do that but I got my hands on a P body instead.

The guy that was doing the 3.0 omni never completed it. It started getting too expensive. Also the 3.2/3.3/3.5/3.8and the new 4.0 only come with the 4spd auto. The 5spd form the 2.7 Sebring might work, but it is a 02+ option on the GTC Sebrings so it might be harder to find. That and not much is known about that trans and what it can take.

I have actually driven my 3.0 Rampage. The front side of the engine bay is very tight. I think a 3.3 or 3.8 would be a much nicer fit, although the wiring for the A604 is a b**tch. as snappy as a 3.0 & A604 is in one, I bet an Omni with A 3.8 / A604 combo would be a blast.

Heck I can't even find a 5spd from the 2.7l GTC Sebring on car-part.com. If you were feeling really spunky you could make an adapter plate to put a different trans on the engine 3.3-family.

You can use the 88-90 omni auto TBI axles, they are unequal length.
