Will the 2.5 heads fit on our blocks? I was analyzing the head gaskets today and they look awfully similar. If we could get them to work, we would be in love I'd imagine considering the smaller chamber and twice the valves. Hell, they even came w/ distributors. Some did anyways. I say if it will fit, grap a harness from the boneyard, the intake, heads, and misc. and see what happens. Anyone have ideas?

timing belt & the tensioner wont work. They are physically the same as the 24v sohc 3.0 heads. I would not use either head for a turbo/supercharger setup unless you plan to run low boost. They have different centerlines on the front an rear cams so the front cam runs a lot hotter then the rear (this means one bank of cylinders makes power at the top end an one makes good power at the bottom). This works fine for n/a, but when you add boost, you add kaboom to your engine bay.

I'm saying, WILL the 2.5 heads bolt to the 3.0 block?

I believe they do with some minor tweaks to get some of the passages to line up...

Ok, now w/ twice the valves, and a smaller combustion chamber, I should be pushing more hp right?

did anyone catch the point that this motor wont make more HP then a soch 3.0?
Dohc or go home.

I really doubt any change in the passages is needed at all. The holes in the headgasets are much smaller then the holes in the block or head. I have a set of dohc cometic headgaskets and they match up perfectly.

So has anyone done this? I'm starting to think. These Avengers come w/ distributor options and they run off of MAP, and whatnot. Same firing order as well. I'm beginning to wonder if a 2.5 wiring harness would work...hmmmm.

With respect to cam centerlines and concerns about high boost, please see:
