Hey Brent,
Have you seen the replacement 3.0 cylinder heads from Alabama Cylinder Head. New castings available, bare or complete with cam, rockers, valves & springs. I'll have to ask if the water jackets are improved, although that doesn't seem to be a problem with normal use.
Part #s:Roller Full, CHR601N; Roller Blank, CHR601NB.

Head will definitely happen before the shortblock. Would be fun to make more power on less boost. Then try stock shortblock with megasquirt.

Ive already had the injectors fail from clogging up (fuel lines must have been gunked up from previous owner) so they are sticking/leaking/etc. Will cost more to fix then the darned engine cost and it hasn't broken yet!
We use that blue styrofoam from Lowes or Home Depot that is supposed to be for insulation. I know that a whole sheet is going to be a bit much for what you need, but you might be able to find smaller peices. I'd just slice that in to the size and shape you want. We use acetone to remove it from our molds and such.

11.54@125mph but story probably won't be for awhile. Ran out of fuel pump so the motor lost power on the 2nd pass and only ran 12.1. Get another fuel pump and upgrade lines and try for a mid 10 in august/sept after school is done. Suspension straps failed again so that didnt get to be tested. 1.78 60' which is the worst ever 60' on a full good pass.
Only 22psi boost and lost 1 piston at about 8.5 seconds. Cylinder still ran. Lost 2 pistons on the 12.1 run and the plugs got smashed.
31mph on the top end with 5 good cylinders.

Get another 90 dollar motor and with proper fuel, try for a LOT more then 22psi boost. He could hear it detonating on the first pass but thought it was noise from the 10 second honda in the other lane.
Driving needs work too. Could have been a 10 second pass but shortshifted every gear and shifted slow.

The ACH heads are supposed to have a thicker deck than the stock head.
Did you try the nylon strap?

fuel pump crapped out. Its good for a short pull but not for a full 1/4 pass.
14:1 air fuel ratios. I forgot to datalog on the first pass and then the motor shut down temporarily after the 2nd more painful pass. He was riding along on the second pass and he took a look at the wideband. I didn't. It was already too late when I felt power drop off. the motor already got hurt on the first pass.

So the plan is to spend some money on the fuel system and try another cast piston motor. Maybe diamante 10:1. E85 loves high compression. Then I can also set my own ring gaps. I have school stuff to do and i started working at a semi/trailer repair shop so the car is on hold until school is done (hopefully finish by July 26th).
Working does mean i will have some money to spend though :) I haven't really spent money on anything this year except gas.

I am sure it broke a couple ringlands and spun a bearing or 2 when the pieces of piston got smashed into the head.

I could replace the spark plugs and it would run on all cylinders, knock, and still probably do 115-120mph down the track but I won't bother until I get my online classes done. I shouldn't even be on my car forums! :(
I hope I finish so i can get back to wrenching on the hobby. I have a job now so I can put money into the car but no time.

Sorry I am not keeping up much. Busy. Shouldn't have even wasted the time making this video. Might put the car back together in August.

I can't beleive how much squat that thing STILL has even with the air shocks and such! WOW! Time for stiffer springs and possibly try to make the wheelbase a bit longer!
