I simply drilled mine out.. Using a drill bit that was the exact right size.. Once it's out, it's easy to replace.

Do you have to removed the head to do that job?

hehe.. I helped a friend fix his Neon when this happend.. Figure out what size the pin is, in his case we still had the piece that was trapped in his cam gear, we took it over to my drill index and figured out which hole it fit in, 5/16" if I remember right. Then I took the drill bit that came out of that spot in the index, figured out about how long the stock pin should have been, and chucked up that much of the bottom of the drillbit in my vise. Grabbed a hammer, and WHACK.. Snapped off the drillbit flush with the vise. Boom, new hardened steel pin.. hehe..

Pin is a LOT longer then it looks in the picture.
I still need to fix up the pin a little bit. It is flared out a bit from when I hammered it in. Then I need to cut the end off since it is a bit too long.

You sure it's too long? It needs to stick out into the sprocket some.. Use a drillbit like I suggested?

It is a LOT longer then it looks in the picture.

It is too long. He has to go throught he sprocket which is very skinny on a 3.0, and t hrough a washer. It cant go past the washer or the bolt will not go down.
Used a drillbit. My DSM buddy says he has done the same trick before.
