So it's the wiring. And your results with the meter will point you in the direction you need to go to fix it..

Well.

When the plug is unplugged, I read 4.5v on the middle (battery is low).

the two other wires read nothing. I have this wiring spliced longer for when I reverse the intake so all I hd to do was remove the tape to get at the wires directly.

The problem is that when I insert the TPS plug into the sensor, something goes wrong.

I lose the 4.5v in the center wire, and nothign happens on any wire when I play with the throttle.

Heh, well there's your problem. Check your map sensor too.. Should be a violet wire to both your map and your TPS.. Does it have 5v? If not, you need to figure out why. And I'm talking when it's plugged in. Once you have 5v to that, I bet your problems go away.

It has 5v at the TPS plug
but for some reason the moment I plug it in, it shorts out. Makes no sense.

I even tried plugging my 58mm TB in and it does the same thing.

Loose / broken wires or pins in the connector? Or in the TPS sensor itself. Change them both, one at a time.

I am going to go in a different direction... Have you checked ignition timing?

Is it the purple wire at the TPS that has 5v before you plug it in? You need to fix that problem.. 5v needs to stick around..

Red wire in the middle of the TPS plug gets 5v. When I plug it in, the 5v disapears.

The sensor works. I have plugged in 2 different TB that both work fine on my spirit. Both have the same problem when on my duster.

Running Code 24 (TPS voltage)

For the TPS, you want to the voltage between the sensor return and the ground in the same plug... The meter should be set to the 0-20v DC range.

If you have powered up the car with the TPS disconnected, you will get that code. To tell if it is real, clear codes and power up with the TPS connected.

I am going to take a momment to plug a concept. Get a scan tool... They make checking these thing cake. On Stein I use an OTC 4000E. From the driver's seat I can see what the computer is seeing... ie. .6v on the TPS with the throttle close. 3.6V with it wide open. Smooth changes in between... TPS is good to go...

That is not the point

With the ignition on:
I dont get any voltage when I plug it in. Doesnt matter what the computer is seeing. I get 5v at the power wire before I plug it in. When I plug it in, I get nothing on the power wire. Moving the throttle does nothing since there is no power to begin with.

The sensor is FINE. NOTHING wrong with it. I have used both on my spirit last night. both have the same problem on the duster.

It is the point... If the computer is seeing the proper voltage, doesn't matter what your voltmeter is saying...

For reference, the same 5 volt signal goes to the MAP sensor...

So how are you performing the measurement?

if voltage is dropping to 0 then sounds to me like you have a dead short. maybe try ohm checking the terminals on the tps and the wire leads for the tps for a short to ground? disconnect the ecu, does voltage come back up?
