Got my bearings on order with checker/kragen/schucks auto

only 5.99 a piece. online they were 10 bucks a pop and autozone tried to sell me fakes for 7.99.

I hate autozone. They made up some story that clevite doesnt make +.25mm rod bearings anymore, I said I dont believe that and they got all offended cause I was supposedly callint them a liar.

Anyways being stupid doesnt make you a liar.

thats funny because out my way its the other way around. advance only hires lazy 14yr old kids and autozone gets me anything i need. even lets me dump as much oil as i want.

lol. I work for Advance, and a lot of times the products customers ask for do exist, but we have to be respectable enough to admit we just can't get some stuff. I have heard AutoZone doesn't know how to treat employees. I can vouch for one of my customers. I called the "Zone" to get a price for a customer who was just there claiming something was cheaper. I had the guy on speaker, and he was calling the customer names. That customer was one pissed off guy.

There are exceptions, but generally I find Advanced workers know more than Autozone ones, and they have a better attitude also usually. I guess they are treated better or something.

I find NAPA workers are quite often very knowledgeable, and they have that crusty mechanics personality to prove it. It usually takes a few trips to a new, to me, NAPA store, before they begin to warm up to me.

My local napa in seattle is great, the one here is horrible.

THey didnt even know what fuel hose clamps were. Sometimes its just all about ownership, especially at Napa.

Is napa oil really the same as valvoline? That is what they claim.

Got my bearings today. Checker auto really kicked the crap out of autozone on that one.

I guess I need to autozoneloan a ring compressor tomorrow......I forgot about that. I picked up some assembly lube. I have to write some essays before thursday afternoon so Im not sure how much time I will have to work on the car.

I just read this thread from beginning to end. Even though you seem to be having a lot of bad luck, I still gotta say good job dude.

It's nice to see someone sharing information no matter what.

I finally got some time to work on the motor and its not raining at the moment. had to pack up once because it started to sprinkle. Wish I had a garage.

Got the Crank back in and the mains girdle on. Bearings are really annoying, and lubing all the bearings and journals was annoying.

I guess Im gonna torque all the main bolts and rod bolts then see if I feel like doing anything more.
