If the bearings were lubed well when you assembled there is no way they would have been damaged turning it over with the starter. If I had allready smoked the rod bearings before,my eyes would be glued to the gauge.
You stated before that you were not sure how accurate your guage was.

they were lubed. i lubed the journals and the bearings.
I probably turned it over for about 8 minutes total on 2 different days when I was not getting oil pressure.

regarding the rod, I didnt look at the top bearing on #4. Im guessig if the rod was bent then the top bearing would be worn on the opposite side.

Good call on the bent rod.

I just looked, the top rod bearing is worn on the opposite side. Crappy......now I get to pull the head.

So Im guessing there is no problem with the rod journal, and this explains why I couldnt plastigauge it using a different bearing.

We're one step closer to seeing some awesome burnout / drag racing / street racing videos from this turbo V-6!

You ought to be pretty good at pulling heads and other engine parts by now!

Throughout this topic, it has never made sense to me how the engine was having oil pressure problems. Now we know. Use the proper size bearings and make sure the rods aren't bent!

It might make sense that he was having oil pressure problems (on initial crank) if he didn't pack the oil pump with engine assembly grease or vasoline.

Not sure if the rods had any machine work to them, but any chance they were machined wrong? That would sure be easier. That sucks though man. You seem to be taking this pretty well though.

Make sure that the rod side clearance is in spec when you put all this back together! If it's not, and the rod is allowed to flop around excessively while running it *could* tweak it....
