278 adv 216@0.50 .450" lift.
I dont think you can get much more lift without cutting down the valve spring seats or getting longer valves and taller springs.
1.5 rocker ratio.

Wuss,
J/K, I've got a driveway full of stalled projects for the same reason
Last time I decided to "suck it up" and work on a vehicle anyway in this kind of weather, I think it ended up costing the same as paying a shop to do it, due to busting bolts etc left, right and center. Metal starts to behave wierd when you get a few degrees below freezing. That and I spent more time trading spray cans of brake cleaner and WD-40 between the work area and a heat vent in the house than actually doing stuff. Have a spray can outside for 5 mins and it's got no pressure.
Theoretically, I've got a workshop. It's full of various friends and relatives spare furniture Theoretically, it's heated, but insurance won't let me use the heating until I fork out a pile to get it certified or something.
I'm sure there's a case of assault and battery will be done sooner or later though, when I get the question, "Gee, why are you rolling around in the snow changing your oil?" when the answer is "Because your freaking couch, dresser and tables are in my workshop!!".
I jest about the assault, however, I'm beginning seriously to consider introducing Mr Couch to Mr Sawzall, then leaving "carefully dismantled" furniture on various peoples doorsteps, with a note explaining that I had to make it fit into the trunk of the car, coz I couldn't fix my van because of all the crap in the workshop.
Anyhoo, here's to spring!

Last year I put a tarp over the engine bay of my spirit while it was snowing, put trash bags over the snow/ice that I was working on under the car, and installed a motor.
This winter I have a car that drives......and installing a motor is different then disassambling/reassembling a motor out in the open :P

I hear ya, I've got one motor in baggies, I've been wondering about tackling a K-Frame and steering rack transplant and driveshaft swap on the van though. Aside from problems of keeping it dry and clean, the "brute force and ignorance" type stuff is more do-able. You can stay warm when you're hauling on big wrenches, shoving things into place etc., but anything that's all "finger work" you are freezing to the spot from standing still and your fingers are too numb to work with. Never have found a pair of gloves I can work in for anything more complex than changing a wheel.
Cool trick if it's a vehicle with roofrack/roof bars, is to get a long 2x4 and lash it to them, sticking out front or rear, makes a nice "tent" with a tarp over. Had to do that twice before, a fuel pump and a master cylinder. Another quick and cheap shelter is to get some long lengths of 3/4 or 1 inch PVC electrical conduit, and some 3ft pieces of rebar. Then you pound the rebar a foot into the ground spaced around 10ft apart and about 2ft between each pair, and put one end of the conduit on the rebar and bend it over onto the other. You probably want to experiment with spacing on the first pair, before you pound a whole row in. Then you've got a row of hoops to throw a tarp or polythene over. A friend has done that for a temporary garage, think he needed 2 10ft lengths of conduit joined per hoop. They kind of socket together and you can jam fit them, but duct tape makes sure if they're a bit loose. You can also use that scheme for a tarp shelter if you go and camp at the track for a weekend event, goes up quick enough after a trial run. Should cost less than $10 a hoop, maybe $5 if you've got a cheap contractors supply place, so, one hoop for every 2ft of length +1, and something to throw over it, gets you a temp garage for quite a bit less than buying a kit, and it's more adaptable. If you just need it in the winter, use the bits in the spring to make a greenhouse, then in the summer to make a gazebo (Crossed hoops, and one hoop on each side of a square, square tarp over the top) then make a "garage" again in winter. Anyhoo, I expect you know a few tricks of your own for rigging shelter, just kinda latched on the topic.
