I just finished fitting the exhaust. I still have to finish tightening up those clamps all the way (which REALLY SUCKS) but it does fit after I cut the double 90 deg pipe in half and also removed about 1.25" to make the bends closer together (because whoever bent it screwed up).

Now it fits pretty good and I have to push hard on the muffler to make the exhaust hit anything so Im pretty happy.

This is what I did after class today.

Burnt a hold in my shirt and a hole in my shoulder when I leaned my shoulder on a piece of spatter from the welder. I didnt notice till i heard a hissing sound and then some pain.

Hatch only weighs 22#

As you can see its not hooked up right now.
Im thinking I might wait on putting the car back together and finish up my finals...and hope that my cam gears come in the mail.

I see that you cut out all the under hood bracing, but you still have the stock hood springs on the hinges. How do you close the hood without bending it in half?

Not a good idea for weight savings, I think. What is the weight of that car now, or the last time it was on a scale?

I hear ya, nothing like wanting to finish up a project after a long drawn out build.

I welded some reinforcing metal on the sides of the hood so it closes without bending.

The hood doesnt actually close like a normal P body hood, I have the hinge shimmed about 1.5" and the hood lifted a bit to get everything under.

I think its a great weight savings. Ive closed the hood plenty of times so i dont see the problem.

I have been suprised that Brent hasn't put hood pins on. Or replaced the steel hood with a fiberglass or carbon fiber...

someone made the comment on streetfire that the sound was an exhaust manifold leak.

I talked to RPW and my cam gears have not even been made yet because they were waiting for customer cores. LAME.

I hate it when that happens. Forward Motion pulled that on me last time I ordered something from them. So I canceled my order.

I got mine from Summit Racing. It was about $120 or so IIRC.

I'll be installing it VERY shortly!

Wee I just turned the motor over for a second with no spark plugs in....the fuel regulator is actually holding pressure lol! Eeek well it doesnt really hold pressure but it did :P
It randomly drops down to about 11psi then sits there or it drops off all the way.
ANyways.

Started her up. She is a lot quieter. I still need to fix the vband leak. I dont really want to though :P

Went to drive her again...the battery started shorting out on the car body (they were touching for some reason and no insulation.

I totally killed that battery and I had to walk home.
Full exhaust is a lot quieter (also since its running on all 6 cylinders).
Drive smoother, doesnt stall when in vacuum (because it used to be sucking fuel out of the regulator vacuum line and flooding)

Now I have to buy another $100 dollar battery
This one is totally dead. Walked a long ways home in 90 deg heat to get my spirit, drove back, pulled the battery, saw the burn spot on the chassis, put some insulation on, then put it back in. Jumped the duster and drove the duster home. Now my spirit is stuck far from home and there is no way Im walking back to get it. I wish my roomates were here :P
cant start the duster since battery is dead and I have nothing to jump it with. I put a charger on the battery and it wouldnt charge (
