Well I think the auto computer I had in the duster is damaged from that battery shortage. I also dont think that is the solution because last night I still fouled the plugs...

I swapped the dusters injector harness to the spirit, then installed the auto computer from the duster into the spirit. After driving a bit it started misfiring a lot. Went to someones house where bansheenut was getting something installed and borrowed his OTC scanner. Dont know how to use it yet.

Anyways when I got home I swapped back in the auto computer and went for a block testdrive and the misfire was gone.

I did test the auto computer in the spirit last night, pulled all the plugs...and it seemed fine. Im not sure why it started misfiring now.

I was hoping it was just the injector harness but swaping that to the spirit didnt make a difference I guess. I will probably do a injector leak test etc. maybe swap out the two injectors on the bad cylinders just for kicks.

Im wondering if the auto computer runs like crap cause its been "learning" on the cam'd turbo motor.

Just wait until you're out of school for good. Your stupid job will screw up your weekdays, some evenings, a few weekends, and maybe even a holiday or two per year.

almost the last car in the last pick and pull I went to had a 5 speed duster woot so I got another 5 speed ecu and I also got an auto computer (just in case) since another yard was having a sale.
Also got a replacement grill for the one that sorta...fell off while driving.
Just happy I found a 92-95 sbec II 5-speed ecu.
Also grabbed some extra TPS connectors cause I think the one on my spirit is shorting out.
Edit, wired in new tps connector and now the TPS code is gone and my spirit has its responsiveness back

Can worry a little more about the duster now

Well this is really frustrating. Put in a new ecu (works on spirit) and 1 & 5 are still fouling out.

Im not really sure how to diagnose this.

Those injectors were not leaking when i pulled the rail and pressurized the system.
Can they be sticking open and then closing when the car is off?
What electrical stuff might be damaged that is causing those cylinders to flood.
Im thinking about grabbing another engine bay harness etc.

Before I do that I can swap 1 & 5 injectors with the 2 extras I have...I dont really know what that would do as i dont know how to prove the injectors are bad right now. They all have the proper resistance etc.

lol okay well....
havent tested this yet.
When doing a visual inspection of the injector harness wires, I found that 1 and 5 are right next to each other in the connector. On the engine harness side of the connector, 1 & 5 are bare wires (oops) and touching....so my guess is that these 2 injectors have been dumping double the fuel they normally would (opening twice for each injectors pulse width).

Im sorta perturbed though because I was having this problem with another injector harness which I thought was working fine on the spirit now. I guess Ill go look at it.

Yeah, I've seen it on quite a few injector harnesses, the insulation likes to shrink back over time and expose up to 1/2" of bare wire. Not a good thing.

it wasnt on the injector harness, it was on the engine harness. Oh LOL now i realise why it didnt matter which injector harness I used lol. I kept getting them confused. There was nothing wrong with the injector harness....I need to keep telling myself that.

So...it did solve the 1 & 5 problem

I pulled the plugs again and those came out "dry" for the first time...but 4 and 6 came out wet...Im not sure why yet. I will have to play with it in the morning.
