On a normal n/a motor.
retarding the cam biases your powerband to the high rpms.

Advancing the cams hurts top end and increases low rpms and midrange power.

Now, that doesnt really say anything about spooling a turbo though.

well if your building boost sooner w/ the stock cam timing, then put it back to normal. you def. need to be hitting full boost before 4k.

actually it changes spool up a ton on my car (given it's a 2.2). at 2 degrees retard the turbo hits full at 4500, at 4 degrees advance the turbo hits full at 3500, and even better at 7*, but at 7* it's doggish up top and the power hits too hard to have any usable traction

I think the difference is that the camshaft I have in the car is REALLY big for the motor (about .80" more lift and about 34 degrees more duration@.050") so when I mess with camshaft timing the whole engine behaves very differently.
2.2's and 2.5's have much more lift stock then 3.0's I dont know about duration though.
For my engine, it used to spool much sooner and it spooled almost instantly. Now it starts spooling @ 2300 rpms and doesnt hit 5.8psi till 5500 rpms or so.

Also since I am only running 5.8psi boost, the wastegate starts opening before 5.8psi then so thats probably why it creeps up slowly after getting around 5psi.

I am going to do a 4th gear pull today, maybe take a video but I dont really know if I have room on this street I play on to do a full 4th gear pull. I would like to see when it is spooling then compare with the cams @ stock on a 4th gear pull. Then I would just be comparing the cam timing.

On the video - Daaaammmmmmnnnnnnnnnn it sounds NICE !!!

Can't wait to hear what it sounds like at around 8-10 psi and properly tuned!

Looks like traction is a real problem. Might have to convert the Sundance to AWD next!

I am not trying that anytime soon. I dont like going that fast over long distances...especially when it takes a long time to get to the top of the gear.

Good video! Fast!

Looks like your gas gauge isn't working and the left turn signal is always on.

What's the total weight of the car now with you in it?

I think its 2400-2500# with driver.

Gas gauge is just low, the rear light grounds are bad so the turn signals dont work right when you turn the headlights on. Im not bothering with fixing that right now. To much to do.
