The PP looks a lot worse then the flywheel. I think the metal they use on the friction surface is much higher quality. The metal is discolored on the PP even where there was no friction (rather then just a thin layer of discoloration).
I glazed the clutch when the clutch arm problem happened and it has been dead ever since. Previously I could dump the clutch in 3rd and get the tires to spin like nothing. After that the clutch just didnt work.
It should easily be able to handle the power as long as I dont glaze it. Any material could get glazed
Maybe I will put a note in the box that asks them to install a different material if they think that would be more effective.

New clutch should be coming soon. Clutch disk is getting repucked and the pressure plate was no good so they are sending me a OSgiken pressure plate (they dont use Valeo anymore). 140 bucks covers the repair and the new pressure plate.

Not too bad I suppose...Hopefully the new set-up does what you need it to!

No kidding. The car was so much fun before that happened. Sorta weird. The clutch is so aggressive that it still grabs sorta...but its still slipping so it gets worn away really really really really fast.
I am very interested to see what the 1/8th mile and 1/4 mile traps do.
Last year it was 79mph 1/8th and 107mph 1/4th. That was on stock cam gears and stock intake.
This year its been 83-86mph and 101-105mph regardless of the boost pressure I run. I want to see the 1/8th mile go up along with the 1/4!
Top end car with no top end is no fun.

I dont think I mentioned that on the way to the track for my last visit, a c5 z06 passed me but wouldnt play. He lined up with a modded 05+ mustang GT about 8+ cars in front of me and I heard the blip of z06 throttle for downshift and then they were off. Was sorta pissed that I wasnt good enough to race so after they took off, I down shifted to 4th (which is not really the best gear @ 65ish).
Starting way late and in 4th gear, made up the 8+ cars passing the mustang and then mr zo6 let off so there was no point finishing catching him unless I wanted to do a ricer flybye (he walked the modded gt of course). never left 4th gear
Neither of them seemed to happy about that.
I think the GT was scared when he saw a pos car fly past him from so far back while he was WOT trying to chase a z06.
On the way back from the track, a stupid camaro SS ls1 (obvious exhaust) saw me fly through 3rd gear getting on the freeway. I cruise at my normal not so speedy speeds and he follows me on an interchange to a different freeway. Then he gets beside me about a mile down the road and starts pacing me.
So i down shifted to 3rd (this = fun) and start stabbing the throttle giving him some BOV. He keeps pacing me but I think he didnt like what he heard on the down shift (car gets loud!) :P
So I sit there for awhile and then just take off...car all over the place (9.5psi). Shift to 4th and the clutch totally lets go :P
Might have been a good race for him until I got off the gas and the clutch grabbed again.
The clutch basically would slip the moment it got any abuse on it.

Will your new clutch require a break-in period? The Centerforce Dual Friction recommends 500 miles of normal driving before beating on it.

No, its a 3 puck. Dual friction has organic material on it which doesnt eat into the friction surfaces like ceramic race clutches do so they take a long time to make a good seating surface. Race clutches require a few good slips to get the surfaces to where the buttons are grabbing fully. Of course that assumes your surfaces are good to begin with.

I'm no expert on race clutches, but I think that the high load pressure plate + the high power output + the TINY clutch friction surface area = friction material that gets overloaded and breaks down easily.
I'd use a clutch with way more friction surface area, like a 6 puck or a full circle if it were me.

I wouldnt, 6 puck wont hold as much power, and when you glaze any non organic clutch, its dead no matter how much you want that not to be the case
The pucks eat up the flywheel and pressure plate...but since my clutch got too hot when it slipped, it wouldnt grab and it would just tear metal off both surfaces and tear itself apart.
Ceramic clutches only have about 0.5mm of depth from the face to the rivet. They dont really wear down unless something is wrong.
My clutch showed up today, and a new PP, but it looks exactly the same as my old one (same brand) so i am not quite sure what they sent me since I was expecting an OSgiken PP.
Still no friction surface for my flywheel. I am beginning to think it wont arrive and I will have to talk to my bank.

Time to make a bunch of phone calls, I'd call the people for the clutch kit and see what they found and if they sent the same thing back again, you did say you caused it so maybe thats why it might be the same thing again!
I'd call chris at TU if thats where you got it, He usually seems to be good with support, he called me right back to tell me if his distributor had any fidanza flywheels so not like I was ignored, although I've never purchased anything from him (went to ultra rev on ebay for my fidanza alu flywheel).

Clutchnet clutch. They rebuilt the clutch (new buttons) and the pressure plate is brand new but it "looks the same" so I figure its the same brand. Called them and I guess they made a mistake in what they thought they could provide because osgiken doesnt produce a PP that fits so they had to use valeo again.
I bought a friction surface from Chris, and it was mailed to the wrong person supposedly so the order was cancelled
I bought it again from horsepowerparts.com. They seem to have gone out of business. Called my bank to get money back today.
Ordered from Summit racing today and I trust them.

BWWHAHAHAHAHAH, are you serious!!!
Thats the first place I tried to order my Fidanza Flywheel from!!!! They did a price match of ultra revs site but didn't have it in stock, told me to wait a month, so I waited a month and a day, site didn't update, didn't receive a postcard in the mail or anything, so I called them up about it, they told me it would be another month wait!!! I cancelled my order after that! Its bull shit, just another dissapointed customer with them cause this isn't the first time, more like the 3-4th time this shits happen to me with them, I only live ~10mins away from them and if they have something it saved me the $10 dollar handling fee!

They claim it ships today...but Ive never had a problem. Their backorder information is usually correct.
Ive already been screwed twice so 3 times is no big deal right?
Summit's website claims its been shipped already (2 hours after purchase) but they dont sent the tracking info till the next morning.

I've never really had an issue with Summit either. ('course now I say that and the next time....)
Anyways, my most recent purchase was some Red Line fluid from them...I was expecting to see it in 2 working days...I had it NEXT DAY and I placed the order at something like 3pm!! I have to say I was VERY impressed with that!
the thing to remember with places like that is to NOT expect them to be able to get exact parts for our cars very quickly, or at all. You best bet is going to one of our specialized suppliers...OR going directly to the manufacturer. You may pay more, but you'll more than likely get what you want, and probably won't get a run around while doing so....
