Pretty sure TU was the first one to waste over a week of my time not delivering.

I would love to have my friction surface show up but if it shows up Friday afternoon I probably wont have the car back together ready to race before 5-6ish when I need to leave for the track.

Tracking number says its in transit to Utah right now (from Nevada) so it should be here tomorrow.
I wonder if I can pick it up from their distribution center in salt lake. That would screw me 15 dollars in gas but Id have my flywheel ready to go for racing

sounds like your luck is better than mine, hope you get it in time for the races!

One time they even had backorder on a set of sparkplugs that I was looking at, I guess maybe its just the misc stuff that i'm looking at, but they always have most fluids/oils stocked when i'm there so thats usually not a worry. Its just when it comes to parts.

My luck is horrible as always.

I have 3 friction plates now that all don't fit because Fidanza changed the bolt pattern.
Hopefully when I call Fidanza tomorrow they can help without screwing too much more

At this point Id rather have a new fidanza then deal with this crap.

That would be a pretty rediculous effort. The back of the flywheel needs to be milled 18 times to get a flat area for the nut to seat

I thought about it until I got the flywheel off and looked at the back.

So I have to mail back the friction plates to get them swapped. So i have to wait for the 2nd one to arrive so I can mail them back

At least I have an extra "new style" plate at my parents house in Seattle so when i visit them I'm gonna ship fidanza another plate even though that one came to me back in the day when they used to send 2 plates (old and new).

3 plates should last me awhile.

But waiting sucks.

Everything back together. I added another crankcase evacuation pipe to my downpipe (about a foot downstream) and built a new front valve cover vent valve system (sorta). Ill post pics of that soon.

Radiator popped a leak when i stopped at bansheenuts house. I believe its been waiting to leak since I froze it solid this winter. Once the radiator cooled down and the metal contracted from lower temps, it started dripping (with radiator cold). I got it home (no racing with that leak) and now it leaks very fast (but only leaks after the motor has been off for a couple minutes).

I stopped at autozone on my way home and on the way back to my house (like 12 blocks) it sounded like the turbo was surging. I dont know whats up with that. The IC couplers all looked good so I will pressure test it tomorrow while I am figuring out the radiator.

I want the car running good because bansheenut is coming over Friday so i can port his turbo and i want to destroy the crappy tires on the front of the duster. Then I can install the new tires I have in the attic.

Breaking tires loose at the top of 3rd gear on the freeway (assuming my new clutch is holding). The clutch feels a lot like the previous one did before I glazed it. 9.5 psi is a lot of fun, especially when I get above 5000 rpms and the cams get me into my poweband

I also retarded the distributor (base timing) a few degrees because it looked like there were some speckles on my spark plugs. That might just be what happens when its on the rev limiter making boost. The plugs were all fairly clean (not oil soaked as normal) so I am fairly happy. It started up today after sitting 3 weeks without fouling plug #4 like it normaly does
I pulled all the plugs because the engine sounded funny but that was just because i forgot to tighten the vband on the turbo (exhaust leak). I was happy with how they looked except the little bit of speckling.

Still freaked out about the sound that my car is making when the turbo spooled driving home from autozone. I repeated it a few times. sounds like the turbo is overspinning but I dont know yet.
If I cant figure it out I will try to make a video of it and hopefully the sound is audible. the boost gauge didnt seem to be reading boost during the sound but I wasnt being very scientific about checking my instruments since i was just driving a few blocks home.

Three alky nozzles

New crankcase evac setup because the front cover nipple is too small for its own valve on the downpipe.

I use an old old valvecover that had the screw in PCV valve so I had to drill more holes in the baffle. I opened up the middle hole more after this picture with some pliars.

I just finished fixing the stupid intake manifold again. I really need to get a steel flange made to match the steel intake because the crap I use to seal it keeps cracking it. My latest fix is wetsanding the surface then I put some more jb weld down on the flange area and around where the runners interface with the aluminum flange because the surfaces were all jacked and then I wet sanded again. So I actually have a flat surface, but in order to make it seal and not leak between the flange and runners ...

Sprayed both sides with copperspray, and then some anaerobic sealer on the intake manifold side (the spray helps the sealer harden since it wont harden in the presence of air). Put another coat of spray over the sealer just to be sure.

The idle speed (i had it set around 1500 rpms) dropped to 900 so the leak was pretty big :P

I dont want to do the steel flange because that will require new runners (i will have to cut them off) and I will use slightly larger runners. The ones I used are slightly too small, 1.5" outer diameter and i had Mike Mulhern make my intake spacer with 1.5" holes since that is what the manifold SHOULD be using. Larger runners will require making two of the nuts that hold down the upper manifold "custom" by cutting down their sides to be a smaller hex so i can still fit a wrench on them since they are too close to the runners.

I wish I had an extra car, and plenty of money, so I could experiment and play around trying radical stuff.
