My '93 Shadow ES currently has these modifications to its V6:

Ported intake
52mm throttle body
2-1/2" exhaust
No cat
Dynomax Super Turbo muffler (2-1/2")
K&N RU-1770 air filter
180 thermostat (it already had that)

At this level, I'm getting 150 HP at the wheels, 15.97 @ 85 in a 3100 pound car. It has the 604 automatic in it.

If I were to do a mild porting job on a set of heads and gasket match the heads and exhaust manifolds, what kind of HP might that pick up with stock valves and stock cams?

And the HP gains if I added Diamante cams?

I dont think mild porting on the heads is going to make a whole lot of power. However if cant hurt if you do it right, so go for it if you want to. I do not recommend gasket matching the heads with the exhaust manifold. Trust me, it is a good idea to always heep the exhaust manifold ports a little big bigger.to prevent a reverse in the flow . If you open op the exhaust port in the heads, open up the exhaust manifold as well. I heard the diamante cams help the engine make more high end power. I'd say they are worth it. Everyone who has tried them says it pulls harder to redline. Now if you want to make even more power, get a custom grind done to your stock cams. Haven't we arlready talked about all this in old posts?

I have been thinking about a few things as far as mods vs power production goes.........I get the feeling that a lot of people have pretty tired out 3.0's..........or at least 3.0's that were not broken in properly.

With the addition of 10:1 pistons josh was making more like 190whp and my motor with 58mm TB setup and 3" exhaust was making a bit over 180whp.
I have had 2 motors in the spirit. The previous one had some blowbye and trapped 87mph with a604 and JUST a 52mm TB and exhaust removed after the CAT. 92+ with 5 speed and lots of goodies. The new motor I got from some wreckers I seem to have gotten lucky on. It actually is a bit quicker in the 1/4 with Less mods (no fidanza flywheel). It also seems to have NO blowbye.

I think cams will give more gains then a mild head port. What do most racers do on motors that dont breath well? Put huge cams on them.

That was funny when no one believed you, Brent, when you trapped 87mph with the spirit a few years ago. I trapped 84.7 mph with my sprit which only had the 52mm TB, and even had the A670 trans! It had STOCK exhaust. I removed teh 1-7/8" pipe over the axle, and for some reason it made no difference at all. All the runs were done on the same day. Also I weigh almost 100 lbs more than you.

From what i've read there isn't a reason to go to 58mm till making over 250hp, so the 52mm should be good till atleast 220hp i'd say.

Mine pulls good, no 1/4 results though

No A/C
No rear seat
No carpet
180* Thermostat
A543 put in over A604
battery in rear
CAI
Solid Motor mount and solid bubble strut
Stock exhuast
52mm TB
+ more that i forget.

I still want faster, like everyone else, but my future mods are stealth lower intake manifold with custom upper manifold, lightweight flywheel, Nicks UD pulley, OBX LSD, lowering springs, lightweight wheels.

Did you weigh your car or are you guessing... For similar calculations, I assumed DaytonaStein's weight to be ~3200 lbs. with two people in it...
