Hey guys I was looking at this section and was like wow.

remote mount turbo cavalier

What is your opinion on this kind of installation. It's appealing to me because you wouldn't have to worry about cramming the turbo somewhere in the engine bay.

Plus I like it's stealth appeal...

Hi Steve,

I think you will find there isn't much support here for the idea, and as appealing as I find a remote mount system, I can now see why Ondonti feels the way he does about them.

It seems the oil return is very problematic. You will go through expensive oil pumps about once every 9 months for one thing.

Any news about the 2ndgen cluster bezels?

'm not a 3.0 owner, but i have given this consideratioln for my 2.2L. more because of how easy they are to take out for things like inspections and emissions. If i go that route I think I'm going to go with a second tank(probably something like a fuel cell) with an inline pump if I need it and have the entire set up in the back. I don't think there would neet to be a reason to go with such a traditional method or oiling on this unorthadox design. But anyone who knows better can tell me why this will or will not work it'd be appreciated. I also think my design would save on time of intallation and ease of maintanence, but that could be me.

hmmmmm

An adequately sized and well placed oil reservoir, a pusher pump there at the cool end, ... an oil cooler between the turbo and the oil reservoir, ... hmmm. That may make those pumps last. A shorter oil line may save the pump a lot of wear too, and it would stay cooler.

Darn you! Now you got me thinking about this again!

Sorry? I honestly think that part of the remote mount "ineffectiveness" is brought on by it's oiling difficulties. Another idea on this set up... I've head that warmer fuel is a good thing, and I've always been lead to believe this, with the turbo so close to the tank would the heat transfer and to the fuel? Silly questions, but I just thought about it.

PS: Proof-reading is a good thing...

No biggie. I am not really upset.

Personally I hate the idea of having anything that hot near my gas tank. I would put it right after the back manifold where the cat is.

I have been running the same pump for 2 years, driving the cars every day. my pump only ran me a hundred bucks. im not sure if sts is using cheaper grade pumps or what.
Thanks,
Jeremy

WoW! Interesting!

How long is the oil return line on your setup?

What pump are you using?

Where is your pump located? Does it push or pull?

Where is your turbo located?

Thanks for the info too btw.

Ok, now you just put that out there without any support information. I honestly think having your opinions on the setup would help.

Yes indeed. Some links, pictures etc, are definitely called for.

Are you in any way associated with STS is a fair question too.

That is pretty darn sweet. Thanks for the info.

I want to hear what Ondonti has to say about this first, but once again, I am thinking about doing this.

Not related to the topic at all. I just had to though.

Sung to the tune of, 'Over The River and Through The Woods'.

Through the babbitt and into the copper

Your plain bearings are all shot

Your crank starts to shake

Your rod ends all quake

Your engine's gonna blow

Hey!

Through the babbitt
... .

Ok. I will shut up now.
