Cancelled by the 3000gt project since you cant have cheaper cars being faster.
Never sold "in a car" since they deny the project ever happening .............
Mr hassler hangs out with the East Coast TD boys I believe and has raced at those SDAC events or whatever.

Has anyone ever made centrifugal clutch type pulley for SCs? You know, so it would only engage and drive the SC, at certain throttle positions? Don't know why really I am more attracted to SCs than turbos for sure, but I think how hot they get has something to do with it. Being less than an Einstein, a lot less, and complex at the same time has it's drawbacks. sigh
My understanding is that a super takes a lot of hp to run it. More than most clutchs (like used in AC compressors) can handle.

What I believe GM did is have a bypass valve. Under low load circumstances it opens and bypasses the compressor....

That said, under cruise (low load) situations. The SC will be compressing, but not into boost ( greater than atmospheric pressure...)

Correct, GM's used a bypass to limit drag under vacuum conditions. I had one in my shop a while back and was changing the belts, so for shits and giggles, I left the SC belt off and loaded it up and free revved it in the stall, guess what, that pulley started spinning pretty fast,

Yes. Chrysler actually built many of them. They, however, never made it into any production vehicle for sale. Yes, they were mated to the A604. And I know of two running "prototype 3.0L turbo" setups. One is in a P-body. The other is in a G-Body.
