Is it normal that after the AFPR is hooked up, post shutoff, the pressure gauge drops to 0. When it's running it's @ 44, where I set the static pressure. Also, since I hooked it up, it doesn't start as quickly as it used to. It cranks fast as usual, but it takes about 3 seconds now to fire up. It used to take under 1. I checked and have seen no visible leaks. any ideas?

the regulator is not seating properly and it not holding pressure.

I had this problem with my BEGI afpr+rrr but if I turned in the "tip in" setting on it I could force the regulator to seat and hold some pressure.

I dont think your regulator has this option.

you will probably need to get a new one, and if that doesnt help, then get something else.

I'm running that one on my car now. I'll just say you get what you pay for. It's complete garbage!!!!!!

As soon as I have the funds for a good unit, it's getting replaced.

Mine doesn't hold pressure at all. Turn off the motor, and pressure bleeds to 0psi within a minute.

It's the EXACT same one I purchased. Only mine is chrome finish. Anyways, I tightened down the adjustment screw and it seemed to help. I didn't think it would make a difference though. There was a rubber seal beneath it, and before when I pinched the vac line, it would make the pressure jump 6-8psi, now after I tightened it, it makes almost no change @ idle when I pinch the vac line. It also drives much smoother now.

Let me just say. I actually got on it today since the install/adjustment and wow what a difference. I don't know if it's because of my ozone generator or because I dropped the Fuel pressure, but it's a lot better now. I still haven't figured out though why it starts slower now. It still cranks fast, but I think it's because of the fuel. I'm restricting more fuel and it must have to cycle more to fire up. Any opinions? It idles soo much better now, and I'm sayin-a WRX non impreza was rollin pretty quick on the way home and I wasn't even trying and passing him.

I already told you why its not working, its a piece of crap that isnt seating. You probably cant fix that. You will have to get something else or hope if you get another one of the same it wont be machined so poorly.

I've seen a premium one loose pressure as soon as the motor was turned off on a 3rd gen eclipse turbo. As soon as he turned it off and it dropped to zero, I prompted the question. He said it's always done that and it's normal. I believe it was a Greddy.

That is NOT normal.

That means your regulator is a piece of crap.

If they mess up the machine work at all, it wont hold pressure. Just because its a greddy doesnt mean that particular unit was built correctly.
He tells himself thats normal because its a greddy.

oh. Well I don't know if the gauge is wrong or what, but I'll have it checked again.

If I had it, I'd try stripping it apart and bedding all valve faces with lapping compound or something similar, and then gloop it back together with the hard gas proof gasket maker stuff and teflon tape if need be, and see if it improved any. Wouldn't buy one to go to all that trouble with unless it was like $1 at a yard sale.

I have a modified stock (for a 2.2) FPR on Stein. The fuel system holds pressure for a long time after the ignition is turned off...
