Most problems boil down to lack of:
-fuel
-compression
-spark
A Noid light will allow you to check and make sure the electrical signal for the fuel injector is coming through. If you look in the tech section at
www.kmperformance.com, you will see how the injector harness needs to be laid out.
A compression guage is great for testing that the timing belt is on right. Be sure to check _atleast_ one cylinder from each bank...
A timing light will let you know if you are getting any attempt at spark. Still need to check that the distributor is timed correctly. One tooth off and it may or may not run. If it runs it will run HORRIBLY...
To time the distributor, bring engine to TDC. Pull the distributor. The rotor should be pointing over towards the runner for the #1cyl... If you follow the spark plug wire to the #1 tower and then trace it's path to the internal contact, the rotor should be just about be beyond that point.
I have found it helpful before disassembly to bring the engine to TDC, then strike a line (with a marker) on one side of the rotor. That makes it very easy to tell if I have aligned it correctly during reassembly...
