Ntrain2k - I never judged him. I merely implied that getting a car that's not going to tempt him to outrun the police AGAIN , would be beneficial to him. Just to start off with a basic car, that will get him to/from work, but not tempt him to try anymore stupid antics behind the wheel. I believe in Michigan, it's a felony to evade the police.... he did it twice. Look up the "Three strikes" law and tell me what happens if he does it again. As I said, I really don't care what he does. I've seen Josh's type of situation too many times. Until he changes his "I won't get caught" attitude, he's heading for a repeat of what he just went though. I hope I'm wrong...and I'm sure he will proclaim that I'm wrong, but I'd be real curious as to his situation say....2 years from now, if he doesn't change his ways. I'm not trying to make any choices for him...never intended to. He's old enough to know right from wrong....I'd just hate to see him end up back in jail when his PO decides to stop in for a visit at a "bad" time. PO's don't need a reason to visit...they can do it whenever they want to...2am, if they care to. I just hope hes sober/drug free when that happens. If not..oh, well, he must like prison.
Also, his posting of his parole violating activites on the internet is just begging for someone to catch him.
I've gotten the impression that he's only doing what he HAS to do to get out of trouble. He's not making changes to prevent it from happening again. But hey, I've never met the guy, so why should I care if he goes back to prison.
And for the record, his alcohol abuse is partially what got him into prison in the first place. If he wasn't drunk, he probably wouldn't have wrecked into someones house. That not JUST bad judgement...it's drug imparement. He got a slap on the wrist this time... I doubt he'll be as lucky next time.
His pot smoking is just ONE MORE nail in his coffin when he gets caught next. So his drug abuse IS not "something else that he does is rather petty". All it's going to take is for the wrong person to catch him just once.... If he truely intends to stay out of jail, he needs to abide by the rules of his parole. Why is that so hard to comprehend?
I'm not saying Josh isn't a good/decent person. Hey, we've all made mistakes. I've never judged him, nor do I care to. I DO hope he straightens up and stays out of trouble. The REST OF HIS LIFE greatly depends on what he does now. He NEEDS to realize that his new criminal record is already going to make his future difficult. If he comes off as "someone who only wants to beat the system", he's in for a tougher life than he's already had. I'd hate to see him throw it away for no reason, that's all.
Anyway, I'm sure we all have better things to do than continue this particular conversation...

No way in hell I would do it again. If I get caught a 3rd time, I am screwed. I only did it because I didnt have a license, or insurance, and I had a real bad attitude at the time. I have completely changed my attitude. I am not going to be tempted to do it again just because I have a car that is way faster than a police car.

Getting caught twice was enough to change my " I wont get caught" attitude. Now I realize it is easy to get caught. How could I possibly continue to have that attitude when I got caught 2 times? I am not an idiot.

My PO has been pretty cool with me. He is dealing with so many hardcore felons, he is not going to waste his time stopping in on someone like me. As far as he knows, I have been doing everything I am supposed to do. Hell I even have 2 jobs. If he knocks on the door, I simply will not answer. He can't prove if I am here or not. I don't have a cerfew either. Also, I know my probation officer well enough to know that he will most likely NOT violate me if he catches me drinking or smoking pot one time.

The chances of that happening is very very slim. Also I am not on parole, I am on probation.

I never went to prison. I went to jail for 25 days. I made the changes to prevent it from happening by changing my attitude and whole point of view on life.

How is alcohol abuse drug impairment? Also, it is not about my drinking, it is about the decisions I make while I am drunk. I have had the keys to my mom's car a few times when she was over visiting. I got totally wasted both times, and I even sat in her car and listened to music. Did I go out driving? No. Why? because I thought about it and decided it would be a very stupid thing to do.

No, I will not get slapped on the wrist again, which is why I will not repeat those mistakes. BTW, I do not abuse drugs. I do abuse alcohol though. Oh well. It is not easy living the life I live. Alcohol is my release.

You don't need to hope. I have straightened up. If I didn't, I would be still driving illegally. I am also making a huge effort by working 2 jobs and riding my bike to both of them. Yes I drink alot. At least I just sit at my home and do it. It is not going to get me in trouble. No I do not want to try to beat the system. I want to get my license back and drive legally as I enjoy having a license again.

Josh,
I do sincerely hope that things work out for you.
Ondonti,
Yep, my 440 R/T is slow.... Bring you're grandma over, I'm sure she'd love to see the old car again. Say... if your new 3.0 runs as good as your mouth does, it might just be a race for the R/T.

Hell, in a food race, I'd win hands down. Now, in a foot race, that's another story.

I Found a possible lawyer. The price is $2500. If I dont get my license back this year, he will represent me next year for no extra charge. He sounds like exactly what I need. A lawyer that will try his best to get me my license this year, so he doesn't have to mess around with it next year. He has 17 years experience. Wish me luck guys! You know you miss hearing about my track times with the mitsupoopy 3.0L!

I think you should keep your eyes out for somthing like a shadow, or somthing that had a 3.0 in it, but the motor is bad or needs a ton of work. you could pick it up enough on the cheep, and then work on getting the 3.0 that you have rebuilt. Otherwise maybe you could find a 3.0 on www.Car-Part.com that runs for cheep and work up from there!
