this may seem like a newb question but which side of the intercooler should the bov be on for a s/c? it doesnt seem to me like it would make a diffrence but i figured i ask anyway.

I've got a follow-up. Does it matter how FAR from the TB the BOV is? I would assume that closer would be better, but is there a TOO close?

i normaly run mine 6-8 inches from the tb.. or on a tii car such as my old 88 shelby z i ran it dead in between the cool and tb

al though my next turbo car wil be running twin RFL's one before cool and one after(going for the oh S*** effect when blowing off on the rice)

in a turbo cars you want the bov close to the turbo since its purpose is to protect the compressor. Also venting "cooled" air is just not logical.

Its more trendy + bling to run your bov near the visible TB but it is not correct. The BOV gets its signal from the vacuum line not from its vicinity to the tb plate.

I dont know if it matters on a supercharger. I cant think of a reason why it would.

Second that, I am just finishing up my FMIC install/ I am putting it close to the turbo, but have it so that its not in the way of the other stuff yet easily serviced.

The supercharger has an internal bypass, it functions just like a BOV, just feeds back into the intake instead of atmosphere.

i think the m90 has an external bypass valve that is removable because i dont see anything on my s/c that looks like a bypass valve.

I ran a 1G dsm BOV on my supersetup. I had it between the cold side of the IC and the TB, just because it fit there best. It was LOUD as heck, mostly because a super has pos pressure always, so it was venting at anything besides WOT. I've also heard that you want the vac line between the BOV and your vac source to be as short as possible for best response.

pre-intercooler you will see the highest pressure, hottest compressor discharge air.

there's always a pressure and temp drop across the intercooler.

so, unless packaging prevents you from placing it before the i/c then that is the optimum location. as others have pointed out in many situations there is more physical space for a bov after the i/c so that is why you see that configuration quite often.

either location should give good results though.
