Want? yup
Need? hmmm
Afford? nuhuh.

I would have thunk a simple change that would make us all a lot happier is stopping it backing off the timing after 5 secs WOT. If it can't be removed, then extending it to 30 seconds or so should do for most of us.

Actually brent your probably right...just get injectors to compensate and id probably be alright. Ill be boosting no matter what ...its just a matter of when. New job = more money for me though which means more car upgrades.

I dont think people who havent even finished "BPU"ing their 3.0 will buy an ECU. $250 sounds like a lot of money when you havent spent money modifying your car before. The people who have hit a brick wall and have spent money on the car in the past will likely be willing to part with some $. Hard to justify if you havent really made an investment in the first place.

Soo this thread should be for those who wish to get a Cal. The price isnt going to be higher for everyone because someone wants a turbo Cal.
Cindy isnt going to give you some $50 n/a cal for stock motors. The work she has to do on the cals is "cracking" the code. When she has done that then the only difference between an n/a cal and a turbo cal are the values she uses.
Turbo cal people will likely need to buy a different MAP sensor and that price wont reflect on n/a people.

There are a lot of 3.0 guys who are not on TD.com who im sure have hit the upgrade brick wall long ago and might be interested.

+1 Brent

I have 2400 in my block alone
1G in my heads
planning to spend 1300 on a Standalone install and prof. tune unless Cindy comes through with this cal
Not to mention the Turbo, custom manifolds, etc that will absorb at least 1500
2400 in body work
and another misc. thousand or so in front end re-build, parts, head swap, timing belt, etc.

So I'm easily over the 8G benchmark modestly.

A cal at this price would be perfect and I would buy one on a dime if she gave the go with it.

I'm in for a turbo cal. The only reason I'm not currently building one is because there are other engines out there with better support. Gimme a turbo cal, and I'll build a turbo 3.0 too.

Here's another thought:

The 4 cylinder calibrations were figured out long ago, and I don't know why the V6 ones are so different that they haven't been figured out yet, but is it possible to take the already known 4 cylinder code and expand it to run a V6?

I don't know, just thinking of random possibilities.

Has anyone ever tried to get in touch with the Chrysler engineers who made the V6 calibration in the first place and see if they'd have some useful information?

Someone over at the allpar forums under the username Una has chipped a SMEC. You might want to talk to Una about the code on the SMEC and SBEC's.

I never had a problem with Una myself.........He just seems to piss off a lot of other people on a myriad of issues.

I know a few people have worked on 3.0 code but thats a far cry from a Cal.

Una has been nothing short of wonderful over at the allpar forums. Not only has he posted a website on chipping the SBEC, but he is also doing a writeup on a motor swap and megasquirting it. Nothing negative has come out of this so far.

My post here has nothing to do with 3.0 Cals sooooo :P

He was banned from this forum and a few others for supposedly taking money from people and not sending parts. He also used a moderator privledges he was not supposed to have to delete the threads where people complained about being ripped off.

I dont know how accurate this is as I used to have positive idea about him even though most people seem to hate him. Maybe there was a "bias" involved.

But with his history I would not entrust him with making 3.0 Cals and taking money from anyone here until those issues are resolved.

Scroll down this page to see the problem
http://www.****************/forums/showthread.php?t=5286 Seems to be financial difficulties involved. I have family who live near him and thats quite common (there are a few families and individuals living on my relatives property "illegally" )

regardless, what years would be the most use for us? Let's find out who falls under what year category so we can give Cindy her poll to work with. I'm a 94 3.0.

89's
90's
91's
92's
93's
94's
95's
