That sucks... You can't torque the drain plugs very hard at all on those oil pans. Some of those oil change shops will hire anyone. At least at my job everyone knows what they are doing. I treat every vehicle like it is my own. I am always getting yelled at for leaving the drain plug out too long, because I try to let all the oil drain out.

Crap, my blood pressure goes up just THINKING about taking one of my vehicles near any of those places. Have had to get a quick oil change done a few times in the dead of winter, and I've told them up front "DO NOT touch, or 'inspect' ANYTHING else, I DO NOT want your free winter safety check, (We drain half your antifreeze then tell you it's no good) nor the free brake safety inspection, (We hammer at the brake lines to see if they leak, and try to pry off the seals on your wheel cylinders) just change the oil and filter, I've marked the filter." If they try the "I can't let you..." I'll get it towed out of there and suck up the cold and check it myself. My wife had a brake problem when I was out of town for a while once, had to go to one of those places, ripped her for $800, the "lifetime" pads lasted 2 years, but I wasn't letting them touch that car again, figured it would be cheaper to buy all new pads and rotors than get it in their shop again.
Just two places I've ever been where there's been no hassle at all, Costco and Walmart. I know it's feeding the evil empires but really I don't care if every speedi-lube in town goes bust, good riddance.

Those little speedy lubes are little evil empires of their own.
Thats why their company policy is to take customers every last penny.
Have you guy seen the Jiffy lube scandal news reports from out in California?
Im sure some of you have since you mark your filter

Nobody touches my cars for anything. I'm a big fat guy though, so three minutes of lying on my back in the snow isn't going to freeze me, and in all honesty if I can't get the filter off, the oil plug out, and the old oil draining in three minutes....it'd be because the front tires are both flat!

Here is the video:

Sales quotas are stupid, you can't force people to buy things.

Guys, they rely on the fact that people are ignorant to what fluids their cars take.

I don't think I came across right, lol!
The oil the trans takes is irrelevant, they were just showing her "supposed" bad oil against good oil. Anyone knows, visual is where its at. If you tell someone its dirty, they go, whatever. If you show them black oil vs clean oil, your more likely to say, go ahead, change it.

I used to work at a Jiffy Lube (used to, but thats another story for another time) and the lower bay "techs" could not do a damn thing right, this one "tech" double gasketed an oil filter, the customer drove off, was halfway home when her engine seized up, and myself and another guy had to walk along the highway looking for the oil filter that was blown off the engine, "just to make sure it was our fault" even though it had only been 30 minutes since then change, then after a few weeks, we replaced her engine and three months later she came right back in for another change! nothing ever good happens at those places, I was trained to do all kinds of shady stuff to make people think they needed additional services, stupid stuff like "theres a unicorn running rampant in you exhaust and poking holes in everything, for 49.99 i can run an oil system cleaner through your engine and clear it all up" not that exactly, but nearly as rediculous. Lower bay "techs" would write on peoples oil pans with grease pen stuff like "This Guys a D*ck" and "i would bone this chick!" all the loose change in your car? yah, we made that OUR loose change, vaccumed it up and sifted through the vaccum every week to get money for the soda machine. We left bay chains on cars, so when they pulled out we had to chase them a 1/4 mile down the road to the stoplight and get under the car and pull it off...and so much more other crap that went down there....I've seen terrible things...buuurr..
K.

What's to miss? A manual tranny with red 'oil'? Sure in the early days our transmissions used ATF but these days it's 5W30 as originally stated. Then where did he dig into the manual to pull up the 'sample'. There isn't a 'dip stick' on a manual tranny.
