Dodge FWD transmissions and axels (actual info only please!)

WHen you rev to higher RPM's you have more RPM drop when you shift gears so Long gears autos (like a 2 speed powerglide) are things for 7-8 second drag cars.

There is not much difference between the stock 3.5 and the stock 3.77 tranny in actual gearing as the 3.77 has longer gears while the 3.50 just has a longer final drive and shorter gears.

I thought I needed to build a hybrid transmission till I realised that when you rev to 7k and your slicks are expanding 2" or so in diameter at the top end of the track, You are going to be slower with longer gears unless this is some huge hp drag car.

ahh, that makes perfect sense. in that light, my money would be better spent on a good clutch and an OBX than a diff tranny. thanks brent, that answered that for me quite well
