Im not really sure why so many people want "spare" a543's. If you want a good driving tranny get your old one rebuilt. 99% of people here are not going to be breaking transmissions from anything but normal wear and tear.

Im the only one in the entire state playing with these cars so spare tranny for me just means it doesnt get crushed. The non pull a parts around here do ship trannies out of state I believe.

Ondonti I want a spare tranny cuz my tranny has 288 000km on it.. It shifts fine, but if it goes I want to be able to throw another tranny in instead of being stranded without a car.. If my tranny was very low mileage I wouldint care..

Questions about the 604/543 swap:

Axles are the same? This is in a '92-'94 car, like a Shadow or Sundance. I think they are the same, just confirming it.

Front motor mount that bolts to the radiator support - can you use the 604 mount on a 543, or do you HAVE to have a 543 specific mount?

How about using the front mount from a 2.5 / 523 on a V6 / 543?

I found a '93-'94 Sundance 2.5 5 speed in a junkyard, it has everything in it. 134K miles, and I'm going to grab all the needed parts for the swap, except the 523 of course, because it's useless for my situation. It has a 3.77 ratio on the tag.

A body shop owner owns all the cars in the yard, and when I asked about getting the shifter assembly he said $35! So I'm guessing getting the pedals and clutch cable and a few other bits and pieces won't cost much more than that.

Still need a good 543, though.

front mount will swap from the a604 to the 543. axles are the same too. the front mount wont work from the 2.5, but you will need the driver's side transmission mount.

Just bought a 1990 Shadow with 2.5 Turbo and auto tranny. Any tips on a 5-speed swap?

You can check the non 3.0 sections too. There is a specific section for transmissions.

unfortunately the shadow shifter cables won't work in your daytona. the daytona uses longer cables, as well as the lebaron and minivans. You could drill the holes pretty much anywhere you want to, as long as the cables dont have sharp bends or touch the exhaust.

I used shadow cables on my first Daytona with no problems....

Maybe they do work then, but I have a set of shifter cables from a Shadow and another set from a Daytona and the daytona cables are longer. I just thought they wouldn't reach if you used the shorter cables in a Daytona. I've used the Daytona cables in my Spirit with no problems though.

I'm using shadow cables in my Lebaron. Same dimensions as the tona. They're a little snug. But work non the less.
