I can't remember where I read about this, but I think I recall something, about the 96 and up MAP sensor for 3.0s, just screwing directly into the plenum.

Does anybody know if this is even so, and whether or not I can easily install one on my 1995 3.0L?

I am guessing, that they screw into the port where the MAP sensor hose connects, and I wonder if the correct threads are already present on my 1995 plenum.

I think it would be good to eliminate the MAP sensor hose altogether. Just one less hose to leak, and it would free up that bracket for an AFPR, or something.

Yes, it screws into the pass side of the plenum where the tee-nipple would be but you have to route your FP vac line to the other side or the TB. It lists off from a 96-98 if I remember correctly but from a 3.3/3.8L. I'll check but you can get a picture from advanceautoparts.com or autozone.com

I g2g to get back to my class but I'll check up on that and confirm my information later.

The screw in map sensors from the 3.3/3.8 were only up to 1995. The 96+ 3.3/3.8 plenums were changed along with the type of MAP sensor they got.

So the MAP hose fitting, with the FPR nipple on it, has to be screwed out of the plenum, and the new style map screws into that port? And the FPR vac line, now connects to the other side .... of ... the new screw in MAP sensor, *or* the throttle body?

Do I understand what you meant Dusty?

what i did was to take out the fitting for the brake booster and put the map sensor fitting there and ran a longer vac line from the FPR to it. then screwed the newer style map sensor where the old mapsensor fitting was.
works like a charm. and if you want to get rid of the braket were the old map sensor was just got to the local yard and look for a 88 or so caravan and get the plug wire holder bracket off of it. looks alot cleaner and its all factory.

yep, 94 and 95 3.3/3.8 had that style. I don't know if there are real perks to switching unless someone can say otherwise though.

After getting a better idea of what it entails. I am probably not going to do it now. Seems to me, a short map vac line, is better than a longer fpr vac line. I will do it, if I find an adapter, so I can keep my fpr vac line connected to where it is now though.

Thanks everyone.
