I can't see them either on my 21" monitor w/SLI 7800GT's either so i dunno if its your eyes, i did have a eye exam like 3 months ago also

Before there was a discussion about the 10.0:1's and i originally thought about 20hp gain, but others thought it was more like 12-15hp gain, did anyone ever get a dyno on that? Mine was just ruff calculation of compression. I'm wondering if its even worth it, with ported heads and such. I know it kills any thought of going with FI unless you gonna run alot of alky but thats only if they are forged pistons.

nice looking spirit.

I don't think the 10:1 pistons are really worth it, Joshs duster pulled a 14.2 on drag radials and Jason Haggerts duster (currently mine) pulled 14.8 bone stock with bad plugs and old gas still in the tank. Jasons pulled a 14.6 on 20" drag slicks... Yeah Joshes was faster but then he was limited, couldn't really run and boost with that much compression. Doesn't seem like high compression is really worth the effort imo. I got a super coupe supercharger and a dual core supercoupe intercooler waiting to go on mine now, should be kinda fun.

If you don't want to go forced induction I think 10:1 compression is the way to go. And 93sundance's Duster had 10:1 pistons.

Actually, for tires, I was just running Yokohama AVS ES 100s 225/50/15. My best time with those tires was 14.208 @ 96.96 w/ 2.030 60 ft. Race weight was aprox. 2700 lbs.

In racing season 2005, my best time was 14.345 @ 93.77 w/ 2.037 60 ft. Race weight was about 2900 lbs. For tires I was running Cheapo Falkon 512's 225/50/15 ALL SEASONS! Thats right, 2.037 60 ft on ALL SEASONS! The fastest the car trapped that year was 94.75

I was running 10:1 compression since I rebuilt the engine in 2004. IMO, its not worth tearing apart the engine to do that mod (unless u have nothing better to do with your time and money). Go ahead and do it if you are already doing a rebuild and looking for a few extra ponies. I believe the difference the car will run in the 1/4 mile stock compression vs. high compression, is about the difference between my fat ass driving (240 lbs) and a skinny driver. MAYBE 10 -15 hp. That is with the stock cams though. I wish I would have got some cams for that car. I bet it would have made a big difference. Who knows, Maybe it is worth going to 10:1 compression if you get better cams to go with it.

Well hopefully I will be able to get back in the 3.0L game some day. I was so close to a 13 sec ET, then crashed the car. I really want to give it another shot....

I just thught I would mention the time I saw a 99% stock 3.0L 5 speed duster run 14.65. The guy towed it out of a field after sitting 2 years not running. All he did was get it running, then off to the drag strip on 2 year old gas and oil! He installed a 52mm TB, slicks, removed some weight, and boom, mid to high 14 sec ETs. Trap speeds were around 90-92 mph.

Dude, I got (that) Jasons duster sitting in the driveway, he's got a freaking stack of time slips in the glove box.. I'm a firm believer in the stoutness of the 3.0 motor..
I thought you had drag slicks that one time, guess not.

I had a vid of it running that 14.6 but of course that was on my harddrive that crashed...sigh.
