good luck. Thats what the old fuel that was in my duster looked like. I dumped it out when I put in the walbro. Then I cleaned out the tank with a hose lol. Had it totally removed so wasnt a big deal.

messed around with the car some more, wiring gremlins still. Megasquirt has no power at the moment. Time to re-wire the car i guess, pull out the soldering gun and get rid of all the crimp connectors. Did i mention i HATE wiring? lol

LOL. I actually don't mind it! If it weren't for the fact that I don't like programming I'd probably be going for my EE instead of AE.

BTW, for the soldering I'd stick with paste flux and open flame soldering. The reason? It takes less time, you get just as good results, and heating up wires that thick is a PITA with a soldering gun, no matter the wattage.

Take your time, lay everything out you're going to need, make a plan of attack, and do it one wire at a time. It will actually go REALLY smooth if you do it that way. It might only take a weekend to do it all too! Once you're done you'll have a complete understanding of how every circuit is run in the car and will be able to chase problems MUCH easier!!

Good luck!! Don't give up!!!

Good idea! Some of your wiring looks.... questionable. Perhaps grab a factory engine harness off a 3.0 mitsu car that fits close enough that way you will have factory connectors with a nice long pigtail. Also for your GM DIS coils a slick way to mount them would be to gut a GM DIS ignition module (the plate belows the 3 DIS coils) and wire the terminals inside straight through to the coils. I have done this (not installed yet) and it looks like it will be a slick way of mounting the coils that looks factory.

cant grab a harness lol, im running Megasquirt so its a DIY harness. I am thinking of mounting the coils onto a tower bar when i get/make one, or something, dunno yet, gotta figure out what im gonna do with the M90 and a custom manifold later :-D

I know you're running MS. I mean buy a harness to replace some of your questionable engine wiring then you can have a common spot to hook your MS wires into it. I just felt it would be a more reliable solution then what I've seen of your current wiring. I think I remember you using the same colour wiring for everything - that can be a bit confusing when diagnosing problems.

Just a thought I had that I wanted to pass along.

I have been building my MS for a year now (no time to finish it) and I plan to use most of the original 3.0 harness and just tie into the wiring where the SMEC used to be and run a simple harness into the inside of the car from there for MS. This is how I wired my Sundance - it worked well except when water came into my car when it rained and would get into my MS! and would shut down the MS processor for like 2 hours until it dried out.

ok, spent the afternoon redoing nearly all the conections with solder and shrink tubing. found the issue, the primary ground had pulled off the connector. got her to fire, but shes running so godawfully rich i cant figure it out for the life of me.

i can IDLE with a VE of ONE and an A/F of 7 to 8 :1, and it will hunt badly but still be running on a VE of ZERO; i cant figure it out. all the wiring is not shorted, is fine but i almost think those back injectors are not shutting again. *sigh* i just want the freaking thing to run damnit!

Did you clean or replace the spark plugs?

the spark plugs were new when i couldnt keep it running due to the stuck injectors. back bank was pristine clean, and the fronts were only slightly carbon touched.

here is it idling at about 800rpms. sounds like crap, rough and vibrates bad.

compared with it running 2 months ago here

If the spark plugs have been hit with liquid fuel, they need to be cleaned with a torch (as Brent has mentioned) or replaced.

After listening to the video, one other piece of advice, make sure the spark plug wires are routed to the correct cylinder... I miss wired Stein's once and it idled ok, but as soon as you tipped into the throttle much it would buck something awful...
