Yes indeed. I saw the video, and it's way cool. A bit of envy here I'm afraid.

hehehe, yeah, when i get the car back sometime tomorrow im going to try and get some more videos of it, maybe with the speedo working ( if i can get it to work) and see if i cant get above 4800rpms. the thing is NASTY! cant wait to see what 7500 rpms is like. i do have to say the OBX was well worth the investment. im pretty sure i have to add fuel up top as i think im hitting lean misfires around 4800....

Lookin, why not get a 3.5 and put it in your van? that would go like stink and have gobs of torque

I would be happy just getting a 5 speed swap. Sure wish I could afford it. No way could I do it myself. Too stupid for that stuff.

you underestimate yourself lookin, you'd be able to. the How-To's are fairly universal. it takes some persistance, problem solving and willingness to take the dive. thats all ive had with this project, took a dive off the deep end and hoped for the best trust me, an A543 and the 3.0 is a powerful combo, its quick

Thanks Shadow. The van is our one and only vehicle though. I could do it if I had unlimited time. It would probably take me a couple of months, or so.

Thanks for the feedback. My Shadow is a '93 so the inspection is a visual. Was their a problem using the Shadow pass. side mount ? I see you adapted the Eclipse mt ?
I filled new Anchor brand stock mounts with 3M Windshield goo and that made a difference with engine shudder on take off. How is the bobble strut for normal street driving? I'm running the stock converter but I streched the outlet to 2.5 in. & built a stainless cat back using a Speed FX muffler, offset/offset this exits just below the rear bumper. It's probably too quiet for you guys, but I like a low profile.
You mentioned the dist.diff. between the two engines. When you say they are phased differently are you referring to the rotor to drive tang? or pulse to computer?
Thanks again

im not sure how you'd use the 12v pass. side mount. to me the easiest way was to use the newer motor mount and adapt a mount point to the framerail than try and fabricate some sort of hanger to connect the newer mountpoint on the motor to the old mount. if you look at where the eclipse mount is bolted to the motor, it has two spikes and one bolt hole, not the easiest thing to adapt the original 12v mount to.

so far, with the solid mounts and solid bobble strut, i havent had an excessive amount of engine vibration passed on. Even my g/f who took the latest video says she didnt feel anything more than a normal car for vibration etc. so i think it is worth it, more power to the ground :-D

i have a flowmonster 2.25" cat and stock system after that with a thrush muffler and its pretty loud ATM, im wondering if i need to get a better one for now, dont want to attract any "unwanted" attention. im going to look into getting a full 2.5 system this summer, replace the cat and get mandrel bent, current system shakes and squeaks at idle, and all. I also am going for a low or sleeper profile, nothing fancy exterior wise, just a rocket under the hood!

as for the distributor, the 12v is a non computer controlled dizzy and is fine for its application. the 24v dizzy is not only computer controlled but has a camshaft position sensor in it. i was unable to figure out how the OEM computer controlled the 24v distributor to get any semblance of accurate timing. that is what plagued me all last year at school, no accurate spark. Once i went to EDIS this summer, ive been doing great. I may look into how it works, but DIS is where i went and will stay, especially once i get this motor boosted.

hope that helps some

good and bad news, got the car back from the mechanics for the 4 wheel alignment. at least it tracks straight now. brought it to emissions to see if it would pass after work and ALMOST passed with a crapass tune. failed on NOx, 1360 read, 1190 or below to pass. HC and CO were good, and everything else passed.

SO, armed with that information, high NOx is a result of lean conditions. took it for a 15 minute spin and gave the resulting datalog into the hands of the MegaView VE analyser....and got a VE table i shuddered to try. Attempt two was me sitting in a comfy chair for an hour or so and going through the datalog by hand and creating a MUCH smoother and more fuel appropriate table.

The Test: took the hand smoothed table and configuration out on the road and put it through the paces. lets say this thing is not an eunuch any more! in the video below, 1st actually hit ~7200 rpms, and i was hitting around 6800 or so on the 2-3 and 3-4 shifts. surprisingly it didn't fall on its ass around 5800 rpms like all those on a factory tune claim. So tomorrow morning its off to emissions again for the free retest and hopefully to DMV afterward to get the tags re-upped. :-D man this thing hauls A$$ now!

Congrats on your success. I meant to ask you if you removed the restriction at the end of the exhaust pipe. The stock 2.25 pipe is squeezed down to 1.875" OD.

Hey Shadow,
Good luck on the emission test. The exhaust system is pretty straight forward, I used a 5' straight, two mandrel 90's & two mandrel 45's. The off/off muffler allows a straight tailpipe. The hardest part was swaging the SS pipe, but it can be done with the KD tool.
