OMG! How did I miss this?
Shadow, it looks like the boys are afraid of you. They just can't face the idea of you kicking their little butts. It is going to be all the sweeter now, when you do so again, by an even larger margin than before.
Hang in there.

I just read about what happened. I missed it somehow until tonight.
It may be, that they were PO'd, when they couldn't hotwire it and steal it.
If I wasn't broke I would buy you a good car alarm and an industrial strength TASER bullet riffle.

Okay Shadow,
You've been crowned Web-Wizzer, or whatever you've been studying. Now whats up with your poor neglected car?
You know that could have been a cry for attention by old Blue. Cars get cranky when they're ignored. She might have used the last few amps in the battery to hurl herself over that cliff.
Leaving her door open could have been the last straw. Cars are people too!

I am on the edge of my seat Shadow!
I think Ed is on to something. I sweet talk my van constantly, and so far she just keeps getting better and better. That is even despite my best efforts to screw things up.

Hey,
Before you pull the engine, check the externals (water pump, alternator, idlers, etc.) unless you're making up for past misdeeds. How about that pulley you welded the crank pulse wheel to?

Don't forget the idler pulley .That bearing can make that rolling rumble sound.

ok, i posted this over in the suspension area, but i though id post it here too. I was reviewing my vids from the track today. one thing i did notice was how much squat i was getting off the line with the stock rear springs and original '92 shocks. these will be replaced this summer and my coilover suspension finished. i dont have a clue what the spring rates are on my coilover kit ($20 ebay/china kit) but so far its been good on the front. A little stiff (small bumps skip cds, but i also have a cheapo walmart stereo). ok onto what i need some advice on:
in addition to the rear coilovers, i would like to add a sway bar to help handling. Ive also read that if i lower my p-body, i have to adjust the panard bar which makes me think i should just make an andjustable one and replace the U-channel original one. would changing to a stiffer panard bar help in any way? im looking for overall balance, not a straight drag car
the other question is rims/tires. my 195/60R15 cooper all seasons dont have much grip, especially off the line. i can only launch at 1500-1800 rpms as anything more results in excessive wheelspin. I was hoping to find some SRT-4 rims (17x7) and get some good performance tires for them. Would the larger rim size have an affect on the car? (rotational inertia etc) and what would some other recommendations be if i cant get SRT-4 rims? (rim size, width etc)
thanks in advance.

I've not personally run one (yet), but I hav friends who do have the tubular adjustable panhard bar on their cars. It is a nice peice, but I can't attest to how it effected anything else becuase they don't really drive their cars that hard. I've heard from other people that the feel of the rear of the car through transistions is a lot better. Not only that, but you don't have to worry about buckling the wimpy stock peice(something *I* do worry about!). When you lower the car, the rear axle will move slightly out of center woth the rest of the car due to the suspension geometry. It won't effect the car in a straight line, but in corners it could mess it up a tad, but unless you measure the before/after, I honestly don't think you'll notice that big a difference with it being centered or not by that small amount.
What pressure were you running in your tires when you were racing? I can tell you that I used to run 24-22psi in mine and launch right around 1700-2000rpm(it was an auto car) and get pretty decent 60' times for the tires I was running. The larger wheel/tire combo *might* slow you down depending on their weight and what tires you run. I think that the 17's are a good compromise between weight and cornering performance along with ride. I don't know how they fair in straight line acceleration. I think that you should use those on the street and auto-x, HPDE events, whatever, then swap to the 15" wheels with some good drag slicks on them for the straight line stuff. I know there money involved with that sort of thing, but that's the best option. The next best would be to just find the tire that best suits your purposes and go with it.
HTH...

i ran stock pressure (35lbs) the first day at the track when i got my best time of 14.96, i was playing with tire pressure the 2nd day, and was down to about 20 lbs for the run i blew on. didnt get a good read on the 20lb tires though as i bogged off the line.
Im looking at KYB gasadjust shocks for the rear and GR-2s for the front, im hoping that will help out some, esp with the stiffer rear springs.
as for the panard bar, does someone sell one already? and what do you think of a rear sway bar on a P-body?

Hey Shadow,
I put an Addco rear sway bar on my '93 ES. It helped the steering response & cornering.
I bought the KYB struts & shocks to replace the Monroes. Haven't made the switch yet. Also got the Eibach springs & will do them together.
Don't know how the low rider look will work in the snow, but I have other tires.
