i was just noticing his is the same color :P
Tuning the megasquirt seems to me to be the least problem....so many technical issues before you really can get to tuning. Doesn't sound like you have them all figured out yet.

engine wiring still needs work IMHO. But soo much work and so much potential. I can't wait to see what the finished product will do. Also, after it runs, I would solder/heatshrink all those butt/splicer-connections if you want a real clean look and reliability. Awesome work non the less.

can i say i absolutely ABHORE being a pioneer some days? im having the damndest issues with my ignition timing and the stock distributor. i havent had a chance to timing light my motor, and ive had it where one day ill get it running, but the next day, without changing ANY settings, it wont even catch.

SOOOO, im trying to get the parts of a ford EDIS system to go with my Megasquirt. i have the EDIS module and trigger wheel, but the trigger wheel is steel and my UDP is aluminum, so i think im going to have to swap back to the stock steel one and weld the trigger wheel on. the real holdup is that i dont have coilpacks and the VR sensor and pigtails for teh system. IF i can get to the J-yard soon....darn work doesnt get out til 4:30-5ish and the J-yards in CT close at 5

i may see if i cant figure out if there is a trigger offset im missing or something which is causing all the misfiring etc, but i think EDIS is the way to go now *shrug*

*sigh* i just wanna drive the damn thing!

Not trying to be a jerk, but why do you insist on beating your head on this thing without knowing where the timing is. Get a timing light and set the timing.

yeah, i had myself convinced it couldnt be the ignition timing, so its my own stupidity there. im analyzing my datalogs to find out why im running 47* advance at 2000-3000 rpms, which is 10 or so degrees higher than my table so...

i do have a timing light now, and that is the NEXT thing im going to do is 0 out the table and see what the timing is coming up as, and where the added degrees are coming from

ok, 2 hours + timing light and laptop = whacked ignition timing confirmed

erratic timing light and unaffected by offset and advance table means i got some digging to do to get this sucker to work right *sigh* sonofa..... back to the eerily glowing screen to see whats up. if i can get that straightened out, i think i should be in good shape. i always thought a dizzy was a dizzy was a dizzy the world around, but good ol Mitsubishi decided to **** with that and do something funky...

Ok, I have only loosely been following this thread... So can you define "still no consistent timing light"? Are you talking advance is all over the place or it is very erradic? (or ???)

with 0 cold advance, 0s in the regular advance and the correct offset in Megasquirt, my timing light was erratic at best. it would be accurate for a couple cycles, then double light for a time or two, then not light at all for a second or two etc. also asked one of the guys at RPW about the dizzy and apparently the e-manages and haltechs have something in them that can adapt to the stock dizzy that the MS unit doesnt have. so im headed the EDIS way now...

Sounds like you have issues with your crank sensor. Maybe you have a bad ground and your're gettignlots on "noise" in MS
