Few points ...
Ever had the damper off this? - Keys/slots get chewed sometimes.
You are checking base timing in open loop? - normally needs CTS disconnected
Is this motor the same way round as a 12V? - not trying to fire #1 with #2s spark?

also what diz you using? might not have terminals routed under the cap if it isn't the 12V one, which would end up with you trying to cross fire cylinders and the EMU would go nuts trying to even it out.

Apologies if you've already triple checked this stuff, but not sure whether you've doing this from the ground up so to speak or just expecting everything to be "normal" <--- whatever that is.

yeah, but he has a regular dizzy, they changed it between 92 and 00. on my dizzy, the ground side of the internal coil has an NPN transistor to it so the stock ECU had to SUPPLY voltage to break ground on the primary coil circuit.

im getting a clean RPM signal from the CAS, and ive only had the pulley off this and that is keyed with a peg. Also the dizzy is the stock unit for the 24v motor, and it has the plug connections wired IN the cap differently. heres my cap - it has 1,3,5 on the back side and 2,4,6 out to the front. it is not even close to the 12v dizzy unfortunately

There is someone who has adapted the 12v dist for the 24v so thats possible. I dont think he is sharing info yet though. Sorry. I will ask him.

thats an interesting idea, NO idea how its possible though lol. thanks brent.

although i have everything for the EDIS setup now, just have to fab up the sensor mount and weld the triger wheel to the pully, then wire it up (including plug wires)

well, worked on the EDIS install today. had to make up a mount for the VR sensor, orient and weld the 36-1 wheel on the stock pulley. had to ditch the UDP cause its aluminum and the trigger wheel is steel oh well, ill sell it to ote of the eclipse guys, along with the modified dizzy cap.

btw, i have a Blaster SS coil, helicore MSD coil wire and an Accel 300+ (like MSD 6AL) for sale now that im going DIS....PM me if your interested

as for the EDIS install, i got the sensor mount fabbed up fairly well, and the trigger wheel oriented right, so tomorrow is the coil pack and EDIS module mount and wiring...

EDIS components

mount and wheel mockup 1

mount w/ sensor from top

mount w/ sensor from side

final - welded wheel and mounted sensor

how this works well for you.

You have to mod your MS board differently to run this way....

um, from what ive seen, the wiring is different on the board. you have to rejumper things.

If its "good" for the EDIS it wasnt good for the hall effect...

FYI An EDIS module puts out a nice clean tach signal that works perfect using the opto-in. The only change you will need to make it work is to setup the SAW output. I know on my MS1 2.2 board I used the FIDLE output for SAW. Leave the SAW disconnected when you setup the timing though because with the SAW disconnected you should get a fixed 10 degrees BTDC. I'm sure MS2 has a better way of doing it though.

I'm not sure I'm a fan of how you've wired the ignition coils. Why not grab a set of coils of an EDIS 6 Ford along with the pigtail?

yeah, i think theres provisions for the SAW/PIP on the MS2. as for the coils...my local J-yards didnt have ANY ford v6 EDIS coils at all nor any donor vehicles i could cannibalize, so i made due with the GM ones *shrug* hey, as long as it runs ya know?

ok, did some more work tonight, wiring mostly. mounted the EDIS module and the coil packs. Got them wired in, and pulled the case apart on my MS unit to make sure i had everything jumpered right and i did. i was using the Hall input anyways so i didn't have to change any of the physical jumpers covered most of the wiring in split-loom to keep it semi-organized.

pulled the intake manifold off to start doing the cut-to-fit plug wires, and changed my plugs to some clean NGK coppers. Got one plug wire done and i really like the MSD kit i bought, comes with ALL the goodies; not bad for the $100 it cost me. its an 8.5mm wire and its MSD's super conductor wire.

coils in the engine bay, see upper left strut tower

EDIS mounted near the relay board on passenger inside fender

heres all the goodies from the MSD kit: 8 wires, 2 types of ends with crimps with a spare each, crimping tool, slide-on wire identifiers and a coil wire.

as far as i got tonight, one wire fitted, one ready to be cut

Are you sure these coils will work with EDIS. You can"t use just any coil.
If they have the wrong primary resistance you will damage the Edis unit.
Accel makes an Edis coil pack that is abot 1/6 the size of the GM coils.
