the mustang guy was slipping the clutch alot so he wouldnt spin, thats why he was bouncing off the limiter. you could smell a bit of warm clutch when we were done lol

im torn on what to do with my motor, i can get a new motor for 200-350, and the parts for rebuilding the bottom end include:
main bearings
rod bearings
thrust bearings
lower end gasket set
V/C gaskets
24 lash adjusters
for about $236....

im wondering which would be easier, drop in engine or rebuild the bottom end on my current motor...

The easier option would be to drop in another motor. Then you have a spare motor to build/mess with.

Agreed, plus to do the rebuild, the engine would just about have to come out... definitely the transmission (to get the crank out...)

Hey Shadow,
Did you find the problem?
The last time you took this long, a mob of crazed ricers attacked your car.

Hey Shadow,
I mean did you check the external possibles? You can take the belt off with a 1/2" drive electric toothbrush.

Hey Shadow,
Glad to see you're getting serious. Why I'll bet you'll be driving that bad boy home soon.

out of curiosity, i looked up the town the dragstrip was in, and its 796ft above sea level. not sure if that altitude would affect power or if i wasnt high enough lol.

Interestingly I was just listening to a podcast of CarTalk (May 3rd) and the 3rd caller had something similar happen... Her locked ?? Porche drove itself ~30' up a hill and was teetering on the edge of a cliff when they found it...

Click and Clack's explaination was that the starter had self engaged and driven itself up the hill. If the parking brake had not been on, it would have probably gone over the cliff...

Any chance your battery was dead?
