I will throw my reminder into this thread too

just want to point out to you all that sunmind has again proved that 12v's make power.

His 12v 3000gt put down 220fwhp a few months ago (new engine and not sure how aggressively it was tuned) and so
the 2 most powerful documented USA n/a 6g72's are...12v's lol. Both of those (chris's & sunminds) have fairly mild setups when it comes to engines. You can get a LOT crazier if you want to.

BTW 220whp is a LOT more then ANY 24v 6g72 motor puts down even with lots of mods.
Those 12v's really are very mild. You can go with MUCH bigger cams, custom (only ~500 bucks which is cheap) rocker arms and have ED port you up a set of heads that will make power @ 8000 rpms and you can have one insane N/A setup (maybe some spray too!)

Ed is already here to help anyone wanting to go 12v so its pretty ridiculous to make up stories about the 12v's lack of potencial. If you want to go 24v do it but dont make things up about the advantages/disadvantages etc.
12v is the n/a king right now and I dont see that changing anytime soon.

even if shadow 24v's project works fine for him, realise with any weird project there are LOTS of problems and most people tend to give up so only take on projects you are willing to complete.....otherwise you will just screw your pocketbook and waste a lot of time.

look around on internet for sunminds. He used to have a website called sohc3000gt but i dont know if it exists anymore.

Chris Grimm (reaper1) is on this site but his car is just sitting currently since it needs to have the motor seals replaced.

well its just warming up. No cam break in with roller rockers.
The 12valve 3.0 just sounds mean, especially when you put some decent cams in.

well i have my cam guys card at home....just ship him a set of cams :P
It will be cheaper then someone elses cams....and you dont have to get them quite so big as I have them if you want.

Or bob e2k (who ripped off mikes header prototype) gave me a cam guy in seattle who welds cam lobes and will do 4 cams for 350 (so less for two cams Im sure).
Not sure how good the guy is.

What? The 24 valve 6G72 in the Stealth / 300GT makes 222 horsepower STOCK. And during my brief reading time on 3si forums, I've read about them making 250-260 horsepower with mild bolt ons, like intake and exhaust. And maybe a computer chip, I don't remember all the details.

I was thinking about the 117K mile 24 valve motor I found in a local junkyard. It would be interesting to experiment with, but I don't have the time, money, or garage space to do it with. If anyone wants it and can come to SW PA to get it, let me know. It's a complete motor + 5 speed.

*cough gag* this is all bs

Learn the difference between advertised HP and actual HP.

Dohc 24v motors make 165-170whp and with boltons make about 190-195whp. mitsubishi overrated the crank hp on dohc 24v's anyways. The number should be 205 crank hp. If you actually read 3si.org you would know this. There are a LOT of threads covering the topic.

nobody is making 250-260whp on a dohc 24v. not even close
250-260 crank hp is more like 195whp. a LOT less then those 220+whp 12 valves. Using crank hp those motors are making 290-300hp.

Too many people confuse _wheel_hp (whp) with crank hp (hp)... Then there is the hp people dream that they have...
