Just because it is the same engine, doesn't mean the calibrations are the same... My MAP problems have indicated that there are indeed differences in the calibrations...

um.

I dont understand the meaning of your post.

Ask mike about how fast his daytona is
Then ask anyone about their sundance duster.
Sundance dusters are mid 15 second cars bone stock.

Magazine 1/4 times will NEVER show a cheaper car running faster then the "sporty model" especially 10 years ago.

I never said that duster's were not faster or could not be faster. I just said there are differences even though the engine is the same...

DaytonaStein originally ran with a ECM from a Shadow. For a while it developed a bad hesitation problem that appeared to be fixed when I swapped in a Daytona ECM.

This past summer I broke the vacuum fitting off the MAP in my Voyager. So I grabbed the one from Stein. Suddenly my Voyager developed a hesitation problem... I epoxied the original MAP back together and ran it and the problem was gone...

Wierdness, didn't suspect there were callibration differences between the cars. Of course, I don't think anything else is set up like the '88 minivan either.

Though I guess there could be such a thing as a pressure drop offset for MAPs that were nearer or further away from the plenum.

I hope this isn't too off topic.

Anyone know what sort of Chrysler 3.0L ECM variations commonly exist individually? The performance of even new cars of identical make/model/year can vary quite a bit right?

Well there are differences in computers. I believe the p body calibrations take into account the car is supposed to be a little bit lighter...while the van has different demands on the engine because of its weight and barn like aero.

But I havent seen talk about ecu differences between models for many years.

i have never had a problem myself with ecu swapping (when wiring harnesses are not damaged).

No such thing as a spirit 5 speed ecu......and a spirit auto ecu works fine in a 5 speed p body.

Ed...did you ever try clearing the learning/memory from the shadow ecu? or have you also found it might be damaged?

I cleared the memory several times as I was trying a variety of things to try and fix the problem...

As long as the MAP sensor is good, then there should be no problems... I would love to see some dyne results with different controllers...

PS. I am still looking for '91 5-sp ECU.
