You know I remember dumb stuff now and again. SOmewhere I have saved images of a white 86 G body with a 3.0 turbo setup. THe guy wasn't on any forum, just posted pics on Yahoo. He had like 3 different versions, ending with w/a TT DOHC. I found pics of the ealrier versions, but can't find where I saved the TT pics.

In the next day or two, I will post what I find to my photobucket albums. I DID recently post a 3 liter Omni and CargoVan barndoors...

I knew I keep too much junk on my PC and I've got a dying HDD I managed to save older stuff off of. I will keep looking.

i remember that car when i first started looking for daytona information
here is what he had on his car domain site.

MY 1985 3.0L TURBO CHARGED DAYTONA

I bought my 1985 Daytona for $75.00 a couple of years ago. It was a 2.2 liter turbo charged automatic. I left the 2.2 turbo charged engine in the car but I changed the transmission to a 525 - 5 speed. Later on I spun a bearing in the motor and rebuilt a common block 2.2 and installed a super 60 Turbo Chrger on the engine. I also changed it to a blow threw turbo charged system. I used a Buick Grand National intercooler that I had the inlet and outlet pipes modified to work on the Daytona. The car ran very well and I ran as much as 22 to 24 pounds of boost.

I never dragged raced the car at the drag strip, but I gave the local Honda and Mustang's a hard time.

I like the speed of the 2.2 car but it was lacking in torque when the boost was down. I got the bright idea of swapping the 2.2L four cylinder for a 3.0L V6 engine. Of course I wanted to keep the car turbo charged. I originally planned to use a 604 - 4 speed automatic, but I have heard nothing but horror stories about that transmission. By not using it, it saved me the trouble of having to wire up the electronics for it. I then used a 543 - 5 speed with a 3.77 final drive in it. Later on I made changes to a 3.50 final drive because the car blazes the tires when you step on it.

The engine has bone stock internal parts. I did port the intake manifold and I also used a 58 mm throttle body that is actually off a Nissan and I made it fit the 3.0L intake after I ported it. The Turbo Charger that I am using was purchased from Forward Motion. It has a .63 exhaust air ratio and a .70 compressor air ratio.

In order to mount the turbo on the engine, I had to make bigger better flowing exhaust manifolds and a special crossover pipe which is where the turbo is mounted. The exhaust from the turbo is then routed around the rear manifold and connects to a 2 ½" exhaust system and I use a regular 2 1/2" core reverse flow muffler that I had installed at Mieneke Muffler. I like the car to be quiet. I have a good friend that works there and with his help we made all the exhaust system. I am using a Greddy blow off valve and Turbo 1 - 2.2L fuel injectors. Fuel pressure is set at 25 psi and I am using a Holly Rising Rate Fuel Pressure Regulator. I use no other fuel regulator except that one.

The map sensor has a vacuum check valve on the vacuum line so that when the engine is on boost, it will shut the pressure off at the map sensor so that the computer does not shut down the engine operation. (In other words, the computer does not know the engine is under positive intake pressure). I am using a stock computer. I made my own wiring harness so that the engine would function in my 1985 car. (Chrysler did not put 3.0L V6 engines in Daytona until 1989).

I am using the popular Volvo intercooler and I am using a Dodge Omni 4 door radiator that has been modified with an extra row making it a 3 row instead of a 2 row. I used the Omni radiator because it fit between the inlet and outlet of the Volvo intercooler.

I have two boost settings. Low boost is set at 9 - 10 psi. By flipping a toggle switch (which cuts off boost pressure to the turbo actuator), I then have high boost which is set at 18 psi. Since I do not race the car on a track, I have found little need to go to high boost. The car runs very well with just the 10 psi of low boost. There is a lot more to installing this turbo than is mentioned. If you have any questions email me. Type in this link to see more photos of the car. Yahoo! Photos

33lb injectors wont support 18psi on that decently sized turbo he had soooooo.

You just have to figure that info is somewhat accurate and leave it at that. Its obviously not the whole story cause its onyl a few paragraphs.

Also you dont need a check valve on the MAP sensor.

I believe '90 was the first model year for 3L in a Daytona... '89 takes some modification to get the 3L to fit...
