I ordered some of cheeta onlines derlin shifter bushings and received them on saturday, since I was in the middle of making a oil catch can i installed 2 of them for the moment, the first one in the cab went in smooth perfect fit. the second one i tried was the one that sits on top of the transmission, got to old bushing out and slide the new one on to find the inner diameter to big for the pin, tried the other small bushing and same thing, is that normal? Never seen anyone mention it before. I ended up using a bushing from a wiper arm kit from advance auto and drilled it out a bit and shoved it on and its now it has no play.

I haven't had the time to install the rear trannies bushing, or the one that goes on my fidanza STS but I can tell a world of difference with just the 2 i have installed. I was always grinding into 3rd and 4th if i was power shifting due to the lousy stock ones.

The first time I put the new poly bushings on I had to squeeze them on with vise grips.
Shadow24V, what are you using for the brass shifter bushings?

i bought some brass ones off of ebay for a 3KGT and had them machined down to fit our cables. (cousin is a machinist :-D ) only the 2 for the tranny side, shifter ones are still stock but i dont think you can change those as they are adjustable

I didnt know the delrin ones are still available. I have 1 good set of them. its a shame you had problems because they were the best available. i wanted to buy a set until you said that last part. I had problems with mr berkebile long ago (2002) when I bought his 5 speed setup.

The neon booger bushings dont even fit properly. When I saw pictures I was very disapointed. Plus Delrin is 100x better then poly for shifter bushings. its almost like metal.

Yea. It's a shame that CNNP no longer is around. Their bushings were perfect.

Thats why I'm asking thinking maybe I have a weird tranny, so far i think the pin on top of the tranny is just a smaller pin than the others, hence why I had to create a shim for it. Otherwise they seem great, if i had my way i'd like inserts between all the pins for easier rotation.

So no one else has a smaller pin on the top side of their tranny? I was figuring i'd have problems with booger bushings if they all have the same inner diameter, plus they are more expensive, can't beat 20 shipped for the derlin ones!

Hey, the bushings inside the car should be EXACTLY the same as the top bushing.

Swap them. If it doesnt fit then its your tranny that has the problem and the Delrin bushings are still a viable product. I think some of us would like to find out if they are a good product still.

The 3 small bushings are the exact same, then the 4th one is bigger like it is supposed to be. I just have a weird tranny and wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem, they fit like a glove on the other one that I got installed, I've only installed 2 atm due not enough time and messing around with my oil catch can and work. Maybe tomarrow i'll try to install the other ones if i have spare time, maybe get pics soon as well.

I give cheetaonline a thumbs up on these babies!

Okay thats cool. I didnt even know they were purchasable. Sounds like they are currently by far the best shifter bushings available. I know I love the set I have.

You have any spare trans or do any of the 4 cylinders have a similar top on the a523's? To get the right part? I guess its not really that big of a deal.

Someone had pics on here of a booger bushing install. They look nothing like stock bushings. They technically fit.....but they dont. I havent seen the pic in awhile or even know if that picture was labeled correctly.

I can't fix them if I can't see the problem. I sell these to 542/523 people all the time, I've never been told there's a problem so I'm curious now.

I bought bushings from Cindy at FWD, and they work perfectly. I believe they are poly...but absolutely no fit or function problems at all.
The neon specific bushings have one oddball bushing that is different that what is used on the 543. Check FWD's web page, as I believe they note the differences.

Regardless, it was a great ($25 or less) fix for my Daytona.
