My V-6 Daytona just got 27 mpg on its last tank of gas... and its been colder than a mo fo and all 4 tires need constant maintenance to keep them inflated. No complaints here.

You measure fuel consumption by gallons filled in your tank when you refill and mileage during that period.

Anything else is going to give you a number that is way too low or that is very inconsistent.

Its totally meaningless to say "i get xxx miles per tank" unless you run the tank empty or you refill.

Also the tank has slightly more capacity then stated so running it completely empty wouldnt give accurate results either.

Nothing is wrong with the comments at all. It is just that, this is one of those surrealistic threads, is all. Don't get me wrong. I love reading them. So do carry on by all means.

Wanted to mention that my car has a 3.77 instead of the 3.50 that I installed in the duster and then broke so that limits my top speed before mileage drops from 30mpg

I have big tires too. If you have smaller diameter tires (mine are 25.6") then your mileage should suffer at the same speed.

Its amazing how fast mileage drops when cruising revs go over 2750.

Just got 27.75 mpg in the shadow on a 320 or so mile trip from my home to my buddys in WV. Pretty much all interstate, 60-70 mph most of the time. Lots of time around 3000 rpm.

unlike NAs the turbo engines goes to open loop under any real load and goes to boost. So you buy a wideband and send the computer a rich signal till the things reads 16:1 at cruize and idle. When under boost it doesn't matter, the computer hunts for the open loop curve. This makes for 35 ish MPG on a heavy TD, past 40 on an L body. NA guys like the 3.0 import fans will detonate and melt pistons. Not magic, just running in lean mode

Alright ...let me go into BETTER detail here. I fill up at the same time on each tank.....put VERY close to the same amount of gas in each time....same results. ALL HIGHWAY during the week. Its around 25 miles ish to school one way. If i fill up sunday night....im filling up again by like wednesday or so. I DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR HARD. I accelerate normally and on the highway do no more than 65 or 70. The car has too many miles on it to drive it hard. I just filled up tonight and put 10 gallons in it....odometer read 233. Wasnt on "e" but i can honestly say ....it was close.

My 3.0 A604 Spirit gets about 22MPG on the highway at 80MPH. I go through a $60 tan of gas every week.

I'm getting a brutal 14 mpg with my 3.0 A604 duster. But...I'm doing city only driving and I my work is only about 10 minutes away from me, so my car usually doesn't even heat up before I get to work. Oh, and -45 degree weather does help fuel mileage much either

Mines probably close to yours, 1990 3.0 daytona, work is about 15mins away for me and google maps show about 6 miles one way. I fill up about every two weeks going from ultimate full (gas pump stops) to the gas light coming on at the 1/8 tank mark and a 10 gallon tank.

So i'll even calculate a lil extra mileage that I don't drive since I may only put 24miles on the weekend at best but definitely not average. (12miles (round trip from work to home) x 10 days) + (24 miles x 2 weekends) = 168 miles / 10 gallon tank = 16.8 MPG

From there its usually $3/gallon of the cheap stuff so in a month its like 60$ gas bill.

In ohio weather is dang cold out here. I am running a 180* t-stat but its even like that in the summer, I have replaced my fuel filter but believe it time replace the lines from the tank, think I'm gonna add a clear fuel filter with replacable cartridge under the hood before the fuel rail (like my stealth does) so I don't have to get under the car as often!

I have a '95 TBI Dakota. I get consistent 26-27 mpg during the summer. I am only getting 23-24 right now. I have a traveler installed from a Spirit and keep a very close eye on my mileage. I have verified that the traveler is right on the numbers. This is with mixed freeway/city driving as my DD. When I go hybrid DOHC this summer, I will be doing a high-mileage cal.

I would start with checking the coolant temperature you are running. If the thermostat is stuck open a little your peak/operating coolant temps will drop in cold weather. Then it will take longer (if at all) for the computer to get into closed loop operation. (ie more fuel burned.)

Make sure you check the temp the car is running at and what the computer thinks the car is running at. The ECU goes by the coolant temperature sensor (seperate from the temp sender used by the gauges.)

PS. What's wrong with driving it hard? I drive my 240Kmile '91 3L van hard every day. I love doing WOT blast from most stop lights. The exhaust sings a pretty note as the RPM's swing past 5K RPM.

I could only guess at fuel economy because I have oversized tires.
