can someone please tell me if there is any way to replace a rear cam plug without removing the timing belt system and the rocker arms? they are leaking bad and need to be replaced. they are leaking from both sides of the heads.

IF you are careful, you should be able to loosen the cam cap bolts then R&R the cam oil cap. I would use a beam torque wrench to loosen the bolts so you know how much torque apply when you tighten the bolts back down.

I reinstalled a rocker arm on a 2.5L turbo this way.

I've done that, just loosen the rocker shaft bolts, lift the rear caps up a bit, and slide out the old seals. Degrease it good and put the new ones in and tighten everything down.

If they are leaking from both sides of the head, as mentioned, you're going to HAVE to pull the timing belt off to be able to fix the passengers side cam seal leaks. To fix that side, you MUST remove the cam sprocket...which means you gotta pull the belt off.

Oh what I met to say only the one in each side of the engine the air filter and the other one in the radiator side. Both rear cam seal plug. In the repair book is a big job and is calling for taking alot of stuf to get there. And the used of special oil seal tool that I look for and I can't find.

When differentiating between the front and rear cam seals, "the air filter side" and "the radiator side" doesn't tell us anything on a V6.

It would either be "the side with the belts" or "the side with the transmission" in your case.

Now if you're trying to describe which BANK of the engine has leaking seals, then air filter / radiator would be more descriptive.

Are you talking about the "hockey puck" seals at the backs of the head? They are simple to do on the car after removing a few odds and ends to get at them.If its the front cam seals, then the belt has to come off.

Did you properly torque down the cam caps? Any lifters drop out while you did this procedure?

The other thing to check is to make sure you didn't mange to scrape some RTV into the mating surface of the bearing caps...

If you retorque, make sure you don't over torque....

On a 3.0, it's VERY EASY for those little lifters to drop out of place when you lift the rocker arm assembly. And it's a real pain to get 6 of them all in place at the same time. Last time I did it, I used a wrap of electrical tape around each one as I installed it, then pulled the tape off after they were all bolted down.
